I really suggest getting this sword!!! I just received it for my birthday and I was expecting a descent sword but not quite like this. I was unaware it came in an ornate box first and the box is really cool! then opened that and the sword was in a black carry bag that was a good bag. then finally to the sword. It came with the blade covered in oil which is really good it shows they care about the product staying nice. then the black Damascus is NICE! looks really cool the shape of the blade is very good its set up to be functional and sharpened as much as needed but its very sharp to begin with. the only problem I saw is they should put a tip guard on the blade for shipping my blade hade the tiniest bend at the tip it was easily removed but none the less BECAREFUL@!!! Overall Awesome piece of work Especially for the price!! get it trust me its a keeperWould you recommend this to a friend? Yes

Nice. A bit cheaply made to rate a full 5 stars. And the weight is a bit off during practice. But worth the price. Visually, very striking when in scabbard. It's a solid are of shiny liquid blackness. I have it on a single sword mount on the wall, and it adds a really nice accent to the room. Without it looking like I'm a sword geek. The blade isn't back, it's a rust colored orange with black stripes thats supposed to loos like its Damascus steel. My blade had a few areas where it isn't polished along some of the stripes... Again, for the price, I'm not too concerned about it. Would recommend.Would you recommend this to a friend? Yes

This sword was bought as a gift for a life-long sword master to replace a Shinwa stainless steel Nodachi he previously had. We compared the two and the Damascus blade is much lighter. I asked about the balance and he laughed. He said you want a portion of the weight out on the blade, or else it's very easy to block and disarm you. Then he demonstrated that very thing. He really likes the new blade. But this is not a blade for beginners or... machete fighters. Yes, I've seen the other reviews. The lacquered handle is meant to be kept clean; thumbing the two marks shows you which way the edge of the blade is facing. No guard means YOU have to know where your hand is. A skilled swordsman knows where his hands are. A straight sword is not for slashing moves, but for short precise cuts and piercing moves. If you are more comfortable with slashing, a solid wakizashi or curved katana may be perfect for you. This is not a blade for everyone. But a man with 40 years of Japanese tactical sword experience really likes his.Would you recommend this to a friend? Yes

First off let me start out by saying this is NOT A MACHETTE nor is it an axe. there don't go out and expect it to cut down a tree or split lumber!I give this a 4 out of 5 rating because I feel that for the price this is a Good quality sword for its price. I dunno about anyone else but mine came extremely sharp! Please be careful! The smooth lacquer finish hinders grip and with no hand guard to protect your hands from the blade, loosing fingers are possible! Also after reading some other reviews, I dunno what people were trying to cut but the blade doesn't seem soft to me. I have no doubt it would sever flesh from bone in the blink of an eye if given the chance. that being said this is not a sword I would want to take into a fight. it is blade heavy and the handle does seem a bit week. but all and all a beautiful sword at a good price! and one final note to some past reviewers. Is anyone really in this day and age trusting their life in a sword? and if you were going to don't you think you would wanna spend a

OK, I commented on this sword already, the day I got it, and I wish to retract everything and apologize to anyone influenced by what I wrote. I have learned more now. This sword is NOT full tang, the balance is poor, but is made better by the fact that it is fairly light. The pattern weld lines are beautiful, but done at the expense of the weapon, the steel is very soft. overall, good for conversation and display, not functional or particularly sharp.

AS I CAN SEE IT, THIS SWORD IS ONLY GOOD FOR LOOKS, DISPLAY, AND ADMIRATION BUT NOT GOOD FOR ACTUAL SWORD FIGHT. I AM SURE THIS SWORD CAN NOT HANDLE THE BLOW OF A REAL SWORD, HANDLE WILL SURELY BREAK FOR IT HAS NO SUPPORT AT ALL. ANYWAY IT IS A GOOD LOOKING SWORD BUT DO NOT DEPEND YOUR LIFE ON IT. OVERALL THIS IS ONLY GOOD FOR DISPLAY TO FASCINATE AND ADMIRE ITS ENTIRE BEAUTY......
