I've never used one of these before but I got the hang of it quick. Very easy to use, and the best part about the fire starter is when ever you strike it doesn't just send out little sparks is more like crackling sparks that can easily ignite any dry leaves or cotton you have. It comes with a little container on one side of the handle where you can stuff a cotton ball in which I thought was convenient. Haven't looked at the pocket guide yet but I'm sure that will come in handy as well. Overall GREAT product, fast delivery, and inexpensive so what more could you want.

The sparks fly really far in big showers. There's just one thing I don't like - it's when you have the striker in the wrong position, the magnesium catches and keeps going on the striker. The whistle is really loud and it looks and feels great.
