Shinwa swords are indeed true Damascus steel (folded steel.) Damascus steel takes a great effort and a long time to produce, because of this they do not waist the folded steel on tangs. Now you will hear the term , the tang is wielded on the blade, this means the tang is attached to the blade through the forging proses, not arc, mig, or tig wielded. Shinwa swords are very well made and are all full tang no matter how many pegs are holding the handle on. Know matter the reason why you want to buy a sword, the Shinwa swords are excellent swords for the money, you can not go wrong with a Shinwa. P.S. Shinwa blades don't scratch easily, if you think you scratched it clean it, the scratches will probably wipe rite off. Thank you your friend Daniel of NebraskaWould you recommend this to a friend? ok so, my buddy chainsawelliott took this sword apart at my house and weve deduced it is full tang, double pegged, and not real damascus steel, youre not gonna find a real damascus sword at a price like this, but regular modern steels are just as good as any damascus sword anyway, weve been able to sharpen it to the point where we can cut small copper pipes with it, buy this sword if u have the cashWould you recommend this to a friend? ok, so this sword is boss, the damscus pattern looks great and the sword is insanely sharp (can be sharper) but is the sharpest our of the box ive ever seen, there is only one con that i just cant give this sword 5 stars for though, the blade WILL get scratched no matter how careful you are, it got scratched when i cut the cardboard box it came in. but if you can get over that then more power to you im fully satisfied with my purchase and will be buying from budk again, thanks budk.Would you recommend this to a friend? I got this sword as a gift for my girlfriend. She picked it out because she liked the color. The sword came in a beautiful display box and a black carry bag. Taking the blade out of the sheath was love at first sight. The damascus steel has an amazing swirl pattern. The scabbard has an impressive glossy finish. This was the sharpest out of the box blade I've ever received. I sliced paper with it and I have no doubt it is a battle ready sword. It's much too pretty to use but knowing you can use it if you have to is very comforting. I have quite a collection of knives, spears, axes, and swords but everyone seems to get lost in the damascus blade swirls.

This sword is utterly amazing. Out of the box I had my friends throwing various fruit at me and I could cut them clear in half. It is an amazing deal! A must have for collectors.

just got my teal damascus in today. came in a nice black wooden box with red dragons all over it and orange lining on the inside. very beautiful sword, looks just as it is in the picture. it has a really nice weight to it and very sturdy. also sharp but not razor sharp, but nothing a little fine sharpening wont fix. this sword is definitely worth every penny and then some.
