The V-42 was designed in part by the Commanding Officer of the First Special Service Force, The Devil's Bridgade; Lt. Colonel Robert T. Frederick. The knife was designed and constructed with the sole purpose of battle in mind. This knife was the trademark weapon of the Devil's Brigade, and its members were trained extensively in the use of the V-42. Our historically accurate replica features a stacked leather handle like the original, as to be easily handled in cold weather. Each dagger offers a razor-sharp, double-edged stiletto blade that pierces through even tough materials with ease. Thumb notches are cast into the handle above the guard to keep the knife from slipping when wet or wearing gloves.

  • Razor-sharp, double -edged stiletto blade
  • Stacked leather handle with cast thumb notches
  • Includes custom leather sheath
  • Measures: 7 1/4" blade; 12 5/8" overall

It's an OK copy of this military dagger. The case is totally wrong for this but remember it is an inexpensive COPY. Real V-42s are rare and cost $1000s. If handle is lose, unscrew the skull cracker, tighten the nut, screw skull cracker back on. It does fit into a M8 or a M8A1 military scabbard but not the way they did it. Sharp with a fine tip.Would you recommend this to a friend? Yes

just like most of the people before me, ill say that this knife isn't all that great. it looks badass, the blade is decent. but that's where it stops. although, unlike everyone else here, I made mine AWESOME. I removed that "leather" handle material. that was a serious design flaw. I tightened the hilt, and what I did was made a killer paracord handle for it. I took some high quality 550 paracord, and tied a brown and camo 5x3 turks head knot. I tripled it, so the turk head was brown, camo, then brown. and with the spike pommel this thing NOW looks like a serious contender. though I put a lot of work into this handle,(and I'm likely biased) it now is definitely worth much more than the 13 dollar sale price. in fact, if I was to sell this I would suggest 25 bux. if you will look at all the comments, they all complained primarily about the handle, and not much else. in all reality this is now an awesome shank. unfortunately I don't know of anyway to mass market a turk head handle for this knife. I bet this thing would sell off the shelf. so unless you have paracord skills or otherwise know a way to re grip knife handles, you might want to heed all the other reviews. straight out of the box this knife is a solid 2 stars, after I got done with the handle, it is easy 5+ stars. I challenge anyone to check out what I've done and disagree. to bad I cant publish pics.Would you recommend this to a friend? Yes

Its a 13 dollar blade, so expecting something that is SOG or Ontario quality is expecting way too much. But it is a sharp blade, good for a "get home bag" in the trunk, or even something to stash about the house somewhere. It feels ok in the hand, and would probably not hold up well to extended use. I do feel it is worth 13 bucks though.Would you recommend this to a friend? Yes

I ordered 5 items from Budk and this was the only let down. I'm a fan of the V-42 and this appeared to be a d**n good deal on a decent enough knife. Look - I realize I'm buying a knife for less than $13 so I'm not expecting miracles but what I got hardly resembles the pic. My main problems are these - the blade does not sit flush on the quillion, the handle - whatever it is made of - spins and is not secure ie. if I held the handle firmly I could twist the blade (carefully, it is sharp however ha ha), and finally - the skullcrusher doesn't sit flush on the handle. In the space between the handle and skullcrusher there is some glue. Bummer.Would you recommend this to a friend? No

It's made out of cheap materials. It feels slightly flimsy in the hand as well. My handle isn't stacked leather either. It's this type of hardened resin or bakelite and right under the finger guard was the only piece of real leather but the leather seemed liked it was stamped out and it was glued all along the underside of the finger guard. I cut it all off and it doesn't look terribly bad. Decent hiking use and abuse knife. I don't expect it to lastWould you recommend this to a friend? No

I purchased to use and wear with my uniform that way I could save my commemorative one, the only difference is the sheath as it is not reinforced and is not the drop down model. The blade has a needle-sharp tip and a decently fine edge, which-after a few passes with a wet stone- becomes sharp. I'm not exaggerating when I say you could shave with this dagger. The blade is firmly anchored in the grip and it sits well in the hand. Overall, I am extremely impressed with the overall quality of this dagger. For the price you can't find a nicer piece that rolls old-world style with a functional nature that can stand up to the rigors of modern work.Would you recommend this to a friend? Yes
