For $8.99 it's not a terrible knife. I would relegate this one to field work. The pommel came all scratched up. The wood handle is half lacquered or something. The sheath well......it's a sheath if you want to call it that. All in all I'm really not sorry I bought it. It's a good knife needing a good home and lots of sharpening. LJP
Its a improved sheath compared to my other. Old one feels like paper, this one is a stiff thin leather but not the best. Knife came razor sharp and no flaws in handle. Sprayed Ball pistol over sheath to soften it up. Satisfied with purchase.
Nice knife, but within one month the blade was rusting! I own around a dozen knives and have never had this happen to any other blade. Get the steel wool out.
Well the Picture looks better then the knife you will receive. The sheath sucks and Im gonna have to go out and buy a new one, The blade is trashed...all jacked up. but I guess you get what you pay for. The handle is poorly made and Im just gonna take that off and make my own for it.
This knife is okay fr the price. I don't regret buying it, but I don't know if I would buy it again. I mostly bought it to practice sharpening. The blade came quite dull, but AUS-6 sharpens easily. The downside is it also dulls easily. The knife itself is well made, feels good in the hand, and the construction of the scales and furniture is solid. The guard and pommel aren't brass, though; they're brass plated pot metal. It looks nice and the full-tang blade puts it above most knives in this price as far as durability and functionality. It's not a knife I would stake my life on in the wilderness, but it's perfectly suitable for general outdoor activities. The biggest let down was the sheath--"top quality leather" my left thumb. The main body appears to be heavy cardstock with a thin veneer of leather and a coat of cheap black paint. The belt loop appears to be solid leather, but it's the cheapest blue leather available with a coat of the same black gunk that's on the rest of it. All in all it solid full-tang construction and comfortable grip put it head and shoulders above the vast majority of knives in the price range, but for a similar amount of money you can get something fantastic like a Morakniv.
Out of the Boar, Fox and Stag skinners that seemed to me to be relatives this is the best. The handle feels decent in your hand, the blade came sharp and is easy to sharpen when it dulls, and the tang fits well against the handle material. The sheath isn't the best but for a $9 knife I knew it wouldn't be perfect. Worth a few bucks as a side note on a larger order.
To me, there is 3 things I look at in a Large skinning knife, Blade (sharp, heavy, drop point, 5'1/2-7' blade) Handle (good guard, dual pins, texture glued) and sheath (leather, snapping lock, snug fit). This knife seemed to have it all. I was satisfied when I got it. very sharp and somewhat thick with a good secure feel on my hip as well as in my hand. I was with my uncle 2 weeks after getting this knife, in a tree stand when I reached to grab my DDW (dead down wind) spray and my hand went between my hip and the knife. the loop of the sheath immediately fell off my waist, 15 feet off the tree stand, and landed on the forest floor. whoops... I know it wasn't built to be beaten' like that, but the handle was cracked into 3 pieces and the sheath had failed me. I watched $9 fall 15 feet to the ground. it's a alright knife. not that durable though. but it sure looks cool! I'll give it that!
Nice knife sharp and well made. Only 3 stars because of the terrible sheath.
I like the Boar Hunter Knife so much, for the heavy bolster and pommel of brass, FULL TANG, leather scabbard, that I bought 6 more!!! Great gifts to friends and relatives! So sharp, that point guards needed! Throw one into the back pack for a backup camp knife! A great bargain at less than $10!!!
I purchased this knife for my husband, and we were both quite pleasantly surprised at its heft and weight. Full tang, not too hard to sharpen, and holds its edge well. More than anything else, though, he says he likes the way it feels in his hand. Thank you, Bud K, for another fine product.
The knife is fantastic. Out of the box it was already nice and sharp. My only complaint is the sheath, it doesn't hold the knife in place nearly as well as it should. But overall it was worth purchasing.
I like the knife, its not perfect the handles wasnt finished enough, some rough marks still, but its a strong knife and for the price its a great value. This is the knife you want to beat up and get dirty with, its not a collectible obviously, its the knife you want to use if you are worried the knife might get damaged, why ruin a good quality expensive knife i you have have one of these. the worst part about the knife is the Sheath, its sucked the big one. very thin and flimsy, not a fan at all of the sheath. The knife came in very quick, a day earlier than than predicted. I LOVE BudK !!
this knife has great durability i put it to the test and was actually worth the price and the leather sheath has a great design.
This knife is a great knife. I have had it for a couple of months and it still stands as a good knife. The durability is fantastic. The only reason I give this knife four stars is because of the quality. The quality of the knife isn't terrible, but it could be better. But, this knife overall is a pretty good piece and is great for taking on a hunting trip or just for adding to your knife stash/collection.
It does need sharpening but I enjoy sharpening my knives. It is well made, comes with a fine point, and is full tang. The sheath is made well too, I modified mine by adding a grommet on the end and sides and double-sealing the stitching with gorilla glue. Now it rides on my shoulder and comes in handy on long camping trips.
ok this knife over all is pretty good frist of this type of knife i have bought and i can kinda sharp i cut my finger on it slightly my main draw back is the handle size i got big mongo hands so it feels smaller then it realy is figure its a 9 1/4 inches over all 6in of that is blade so lil over 3 in long the sheath is pretty crappy i use duct tape to renforce the belt loop and snap closer if ya want a good beater knife this one will work
very nice, it comes very dull. that's not to hard to fix, though. good knife. full tang. thanks budk.
this is the best all around work knife i've had. i use it for everything from hammer to screwdriver, paint scraper to putty knife and it takes whatever abuse i give it. it holds an edge well and when it needs it a few swipes of a sharpener and it cuts paper again. couldn't ask for a better helper.
Excellent hunting and all around utility knife. The design is pleasing: similar to the Hitler Youth knife but without the embarrassing swasticas and engraved slogan. Fits my hand perfectly and is very easy to handle. The clip-point blade is stout and strong and takes a great edge. Well designed, and as much fun to wear as it is to use.
