Being my first Katana I can't say I'm an expert on such things, but I have collected knives for many years and know a good product when I see one. I've been wanting to buy a katana for a while now and have been actively searching for a good sword to start with, but without over spending. This was it! I truly love the appearance and feeling of this sword. After getting it I started Kendo and find the weight and balance perfect for my needs. This is a truly beautiful sword and looks to be finely crafted as either a show piece or a useful weapon if ever needed as such. A perfect starter sword for anyone looking to start collecting swords, practicing Kendo or just chopping things up for fun.
I have several katanas. Most are Musha. But this is the first one I have ever received with a fuller but no hamon on the blade. It makes the entire sword look more genuine. The handle is wrapped nice and tight. The scabbard is nice and not damaged in any way. Plus, the sword fits into it tight enough to where it doesn't fall out when held upside down. Lastly, this sword has a beautiful tsuba unlike any other katana I own. Very unique piece overall. Musha never lets me down. Thanks BudK!
It is everything the description says it is.It not that sharp but can still cut a 2 liter bottle, it is a quality sword. I would recommend buying this sword.
I have bought some pretty inferior swords for more money. This is a great sword,It is way cooler than the description states. For this price I highly recommend. I dont think you will be disapointed. It is very sharp.I am confident in its ability.
Amazing sword, blades made of great steel, worth at least 100$, awesome for the price, one problem was the faux ray skin handle began to get loose on the handle, but still pretty awesome
Very very nice, I was suprised to see how nicely it was crafted, and boxed. To me it was well worth the money and I will bye more of these blades in the future.
If you are starting or growing a collection, this is a deal you cant miss! I got it a few months ago,and on my first day I tried to cut a milk jug, I missed and cut 1/2 an inch into the table, leaving only a VERY small dent. I also tried the blade on palm tree branches. Suprisingly it held up, and went clean through easily,as long as you have room. Beautiful sword all in all, and well made.
I got the sword this morning, after ordering it Sunday. VERY quick shipping. So far I am quite pleased with it. My thumb learned the hard way that its quite sharp.

After a little bit of test chopping, so far only a small nick in the blade has appeared, but thats to be expected when your chopping tree limbs. There is a small rattle in the handle that bothers me slightly, but its likely nothing much.

I wouldn't trust this sword in a Zombie apocalypse (And the chances are i'll never need a sword for chopping up zombies), however I'd rather be caught with it, rather than nothing.

All in all, limit it to light cutting and training, take care of it, and you should have a nice Katana for quite awhile.
OMG, not sure where to start. Love the sword, and really cant say i dislike anytthing about it, been over it a few times now and wow, completely amazing in all areas from what i can tell.
shipping was fast and when i opened the fedex package (there were other swords in there i order as well) was actually suprised to see the Musha boxes.

beautiful sword, feels great when you hold it, killer looks, no complaints
absolutely beautiful sword got mine today and it is flawless, strong, sharp and AWESOME It can cut you just by looking at it..for all you first time sword buyers this is the one to get. great buy , great price..theres going to b a lot of sliced cucumbers and watermelons tonight
I half to say, a fine blade, it's beutiful and the craftsmanship is inspiring. This is my first sword I've ever wanted so far, and is perfect piece to start a collection.
This blade is sharp and strong a beautiful piece to have on display to show off or to just have a conversation starter
The only thing I can say is that this sword is perfect for anyone. The blade comes dull as always but with basic sharpening it can become a very very sharp sword. If you are wanting to buy this get it while you can it will not be a waste of money.
For the price, this sword is amazing, I had some dried out bamboo in the back and it almost went through it, leaving only a tiny bend where it hit (not the best idea, but not unfixable).
I got this sword a bit over a year ago and I thought Id let everyone know how it held up. This was my first katana I had ever bought and it has managed to hold up pretty well over the years, the blade chips and bends pretty easily but if you know what youre doing the repairs arnt imossible...the blade hasnt been oiled or sharpened at all and it still cuts like it did out of the box and I only had a slight rust problem due to how porous the metal the blade is made out of is, but some ky jelly will actualy fix that for you if it comes up...anyway, it was my first and it still is one of my faves, if you need a good practice sword/beginner sword and you dont wanna rush out and but one of the more expencive this lil guy is a bargain......for more experienced zombie hunters I would spring for one of the 60-80 dollar musashi's (1060 carbon)
WOW! What can i say? The blade is beautiful and amazing!!! I would Recommend this for anyone who wants a REAL BATTLE READY sword! Way worth its price!
For the price, this sword is absolutely amazing! Well crafted blade, sharp and very beautiful. Fits nice n snug in the saya...wont slip out with shaking. Over all I couldnt be happier with this sword! Took it out into the woods for a battle with the vines haha! They didnt stand a chance! Thanks Trueswords! Ill be back before xmas!
I decided I would finally get around to getting a battle ready sword and this one wasn't bad at all. I like it very much and it's very sharp. The quality is great and it's a beautiful sword. I recommend this for any first time sword buyer.
I got this sword as a replacement for another full tang katana that I broke, but I am faced with a predicament:
This sword is so amazing, I really don't want to scratch it up! I want to use it like I used my old one, for getting rid of underbrush or chopping wood, but even for 40$, this sword is just too damn nice. The blade is very sharp, and the sword has a nice, steep curve to the blade (It's a lot more curved than it looks in the picture). The metal tapers down to a little thinner towards the tip of the blade, but I really doubt that it could cause a break. It has a very solid feel, the handguard doesn't ring when swung, like it does on other swords I've used.

I would definitely recommend this sword to anyone, or at least a sword from the same set. For function, or a showpiece, this sword is amazing.
this sword is the bestestest sword i bought !!!!! GET IT ITS REAL NOT A DISPLAY!!!!!!!!!!! i love it , came really sharp and butiful . the only downer is the scabbord can get scratched and niked really really easaly so do becarefull . oh and the gard ( tusuba ) is small but really pretty !!! GET THIS ONE !!! ull love it as much as i do ;) !!
this is by far the most functional sword i've seen for $40 came with a nice edge already on it, it's light, durable it handled everything i could take a chop at (jugs, bottles filled and not filled, and even chopped my old trashcan to bits)
but then i got ahead of myself and bent the blade a little but it bent right back so no worries definetly plan on buying again if you could go 20/5 i would too
i dont know where to begin, i got it about an hour ago and am still speechless. all i can say is WOW perfect sword flawless, wonderfully made extremely sharp. A beautiful peice. 20/5 if i could go that high
Great sword i was so happy to get my first katana and 3 day shipping not bad well the sword i thought wast shaarp at first because i tryed it out on the box it came in and a hard plastic bottlle and it didt cut threw them good but then i saw i wast holding sword right =3 plus it ist sharpin yet but i tryed it out on a milk carten went threw it like butter
SO! i got this sword today; 2 days shipping (insanity quick) and i have to tell you about why you need to get it.
A: this sword is an insane deal for the price; it came MUCH sharper than i had anticipated, the sword in its entirety smells of quality, and you can feel it!
B: the sword bag it came in had a nice texture to it (although you would want a nicer one for display if doing so)
C: The box it came in is well... a few more pieces than it used to be.
D: no reason not to! the sword is absolutely beautiful!!
NOW.. one con, only one!
A: the tsuba isn't as bright as the picture ensues, but.. whatever!
Just Recieved this today 5/30/09. I can't belive this sword was priced as low as it was..... also was alot sharper than I had imagined...this is going to be my first of many purchases.
I recently ordered a total of 3 swords from True Swords, This was one was ordered as a gift for a friend, who is an experienced martial artist. I also ordered the Bamboo and the Harmony Katanas for myself. Considering the wide range of prices I payed for these swords I have to say that I have found one thing they all have in common, all of them represent an amazing value.

Considering the under $40 price point this Katana is a steal, it makes no pretense about being fancy, there is no fake Hamon or Yokote, but it is very functional, The blade is simple and left in a Satin finish, but it is made of real High Carbon steel which means this sword can actually be used as something other than a wall hanger. The balance is reasonably good and the Bo-hi both make the blade lighter and quicker handling and produce a wonderful Tachi Kaze (whistle) when the sword is swung correctly, if you are starting out this can be very useful because the Bo-Hi on each side of the blade and the blade it's self will all produce a whistle, if you hear all 3, then the swing was good.

The Tsuba is fairly solid, it is not that large and it looks somewhat delicate but the metal is reasonably thick and has a nice solid feel to it. The Saya feels sturdy, and the matte finish feels high quality to the touch. The Ito is real cotton, which provides an excellent grip, though it was not as tight as on the other 2 swords, Overall the fittings are much like the blade solid and functional.

Anyways my overall take on this sword is that it is a really amazing value, and I would highly recommend it as a gift for someone who is into swords but doesn't think they can afford anything better than a wall hanger, or as a starter sword for someone that wants a functional blade, it would also make an outstanding practice sword for someone who wants to learn how to properly use a sword but doesn't want to damage an expensive blade in the process.
Ive bought atleast 5 swords on this site 2 of them were katanas at the price of 65 dollars and in my opinion this one beats all. Its got a nice painted wooden saya thats not glossy so it looks better and doesnt attract fingerprints as much, it didnt come too sharp, but some how i managed to get it as sharp as my knife almost with just the accusharp sharpener even though it doesnt work on swords it worked on this one. its nice and shiny and it doesnt say china anywhere on the blade thats visible :D
It is could in every way but is not that sharp but can still cut a 2 liter bottle easily all you need to do is sharpen it and you got a quality sword.
Great sword good balance good weight overall great sword almost what i expected. The sheath feels a little light to me but is sturdy, had to glue the metal cap of the sheath down cause it kept coming off but that's not a real issues at all. great buy and would recommend to anyone looking for their first Katana
The sword is awesome, It was a bit bigger than i expected, but that's good. The sword isn't very sharp, but i might be holding it wrong, it is my first katana.
Just got it. Took awhile for delivery. Very nice. Of all the swords I have purchased over the years, this far surpasses them all. Heavy blade. Sharp. Have not tried to disassemble yet. Did not come with disassembly instructions or care instructions. But these are eaily found on internet.
Decent sword but,the chord started fraying for no reason, the handle started splitting and it started falling apart . no, I haven't used it. I swung it around a little, to get the feel of it but, that's all.
I bought this weapon for my brother a month or so ago along with another samurai special. I can honestly say I'm trueswords.com's BIGGEST fan and will continue buying from them til I drop. That being said, I give this sword 3 stars because it was way thinner, lighter and weaker than my Sam special. After a few water bottles, the blade began to warp and we are adept if not expert swordsmen. I would recommend another Sam special unless the one I got was faulty, otherwise perfect beginner weapon. Sharp, the build was sturdy and went into the days perfectly. Only complain was the blade but for the price who am I to complain.
