This is a large knife with some decent weight. It arrived with a dulled edge that was easily sharpened with little effort. I used it to carve a ham, and it worked wonderfully. Easily cutting large sections, and then thinly slicing. Recommend for sure.

This is a very good quality cleaver, it's big and hefty and came sharp. I know this cleaver will last a life time. The wooden scabbard is a nice touch the cleaver slides in and out easily. I highly recommend this Damascus Cleaver. Thank You.

It comes dull as a post. That's why I gave it only four stars. I had mine professionally sharpened. I fully expect it will become a family heirloom. I use it daily and am not disappointed by its performance. Very thin slicing, thick and medium slicing, superb chopping there is no appropriate kitchen task that it will not handily do. If anyone has ever priced great cutlery, they know the true cost of such perfection. Get it while you can. It's not for wimps.

Received knife covered in machine oil with a rust spot. I’m not even sure how that is possible. Edge was waved and I had to get it ground out professionally to make it usable. Stain on the handle and sheath starting coming off as soon as they were minimally handled. I washed the knife once, now there are parts of the handle completely missing stain. While the metal seems good and the Damascus Steel will be beautiful once it is re-polished properly, do not buy this knife if you are looking fore something usable out of the box. I am now going to have to re-stain all of the wood, properly sand and polish the blade. I wasn’t expecting to have to put this amount of work into this knife.
