I absolutely love it! The color is beautiful. The weight is nice and it feels sturdy. Everything fits well and tight. Nothing wobbles or wiggles. The color is absolutely stunning, it looks black in low lighting but as soon as you get it under light, it is a stunning deep burgundy color and I absolutely love it. I am so, so, SO happy to have this as my first Katana, and I was a bit shocked that it came with a name given to it. It's name being Ryu. It also came with instructions for sword care and maintenance, so that's helpful if you happen to get the kit. I also got it engraved with the statement "Memento Mori" which means "Remember Death" in Latin, and I am not disappointed with the print. Only problem was that since the blade is coated with oil, wood shavings from the inside the sheath stuck to it. It was easy to just blow off with pressurized air and really was the only problem, besides the guard. The guard is a stunning design of a dragon but it feels a bit weird if you stick close to it while wielding the sword. But other than that, it's an absolutely amazing sword. Definitely will be buying from Musashi again!

My musashi arrived today and I am a very satisfied owner. I study martial arts but not that much with the Katana. I do not want anything hanging on my wall that is not functional. I got the 1060 carbon blade as this steel is harder than the 1045 but yet very durable. When I first opened the box I thought they sent me the wrong saya as I ordered the burgundy and it looked black. That was until I took it out in the sunlight and the deep rich burgundy color was revealed. Of course getting my first Katana I had to try it out on something. Not wanting to nick or mess up the blade I went to our garden where we just finished picking corn. Wouldn't you know it.Those green corn stalks started attacking me and me and my Katana went through the corn field like a combine. Im very satisfied with the fit and finish and the fast delivery by true swords. I know that this will never be my primary defense weapon or every day carry like my Glock but it is comforting to know it is within reach if I need it. Much thanks to true swords.

As I said when texting my review for the shinwa fiery inferno damascus, I got these swords yesterday and not to discredit the shinwa, but the musashi is easily the baddest and best tool I've ever had the privilege of owning. It is also the lightest, sturdy, flexible and durable tool I've owned. When wielded right and practiced swings are done it sings such beautiful notes. Most other swords have to be swung much harder and faster to achieve this. Very much worth the money and I would definitely recommend this to any body who's serious about bushido or the art of the sword. For beginners I'd suggest a boken or cheaper made sword due to the fact that you will eventually destroy it. Lol. Thanks for the beautiful swords True Swords. Great thinking on getting and keeping these in stock. Keep up the good work.

Gorgeous sword, feels amazing I'm my hands and is weighted great. For under $100 this blade is AMAZING! Came super sharp and nicely oiled, letter of authenticity and all the details of the sword on it. Follows samuri custome by having a name. Mine is named "Shirakawa" and the Saba was a very dark red(burgundy). Couldn't be happier with this sword. There is no room for disappointment when buying musashi steel.
Thank you true swords for yet again delivering quality!

For the price you can not get a better Sword. I wish I would have known about True Swords along time ago. They were helpful and the sword showed up very quickly.

As most of the reviews about this Katana go they are absolutely correct, everything is in the right place. This sword is an actual Katana the only difference I can see between an actual Japanese Katana and this item is the steel. Japanese Katanas are made from sand found in Japan and this sword is made from obviously steel from somewhere else... Out of the large number of swords I own I am extreamly satisfied with this one it is my favorite. I plan on getting another one next month.

The blade and sheath were both in perfect condition upon arrival. There was not a scratch to be found. My only complaint is that the sword came coated in a thick oil with much dirt and grime. I wiped the blade and clean and oiled it so now it is amazing. Thank you true swords.

It's just what I wanted. Excellent look, feel, handling. Looks and feels like it should cost MUCH more. This is the nicest sword I've seen or handled. yes, I'm a newb, but to my beginner's eyes and hands this is an awesome Katana for the price. I have what I now know to be a beater sword I got from a mall for more than twice what this one cost and the blade is no comparison on that one to this one. No joking or understatement this is a sharp sword. Entire length of the blade is sharp enough to slice paper like a razor. The hamon is subtle but clear. The wrap, tsuba, saya fit, and all fittings are just right. I found out about this sword series from the Sword Buyers Guide, as well as that site pointing me to True Swords and I'm glad it did. I'm a fan of True Swords, the Mushashi Products, especially the 1060 line, and expect to enjoy this Katana for many years.

This is truly an awesome katana. You can just tell that there is quality craftmanship, even at this price point. I was so excited when I received this that I must have appreciated it for about 30 minutes! Everything feels tight and good, just like a katana should be. Very impressed with True Swords' customer service; I had an issue with this katana and they provided options for me... I went with a different design and they delivered! I am one happy camper! Thank you, True Swords! You've got a lifetime customer :)

Btw, I'm 43 and didn't buy this to swing around and chop stuff up.
Bought for the visual aspect.
They sent the wrong color. Ordered red, received burgandy. I'm glad they messed up because it is beautiful. Sits on a marble table and looks like they were made to be together.
Not a sword expert, but seems solid and it's sharp as all hell.

Absolutely amazing. This sword is Beautiful and is a true katana in every sense of the word. hand-made, real wood sheath, none of that wax crap inside the sheath.

This is my second Musashi from the 1060 line, and overall, it's a great sword. When I first opened it, I was a little worried because the bamboo pegs were not slotted in very well, they stuck out on one side of the handle quite far. However, I was able to use a small brass hammer to tap the pegs into place, where they now site very will and even on both sides. It looks and feels much better! Once I had fixed that, the blade was fantastic. I cleaned up the shipping oil and polished it, and it's a gorgeous steel. The hamon line is very pronounced and it looks great. I haven't done any cutting with it yet, but it seems to be very sharp. The fittings, cord wrap, and blade are tight and feel very solid. As for the saya, the color is a very nice, deep red that catches the eye. The only problem I have with the sword is that, while the sword grips snugly into the saya and won't fall out, there is a little blade wobble in the lower half, so you can hear the sword rattle in the saya ever so slightly. My other Musashi doesn't do that. However, I don't believe it's enough to damage the blade at all, and therefore decided that this small flaw didn't outweigh the rest of the sword. Like I said, overall a fantastic sword. The peg issue was easily fixed, and the only problem was a bit of blade wobble: that I actually can reduce by swapping sayas on my two Musashi swords. The other sword doesn't wobble nearly as much, and this blade fits snug into the other's saya. Easy fix! All in all, 4/5 stars for the blade wobble, but I would still recommend any sword in the 1060 line to someone looking to get a few starter blades.

Very nice all over. Blade is quite sharp, though not RAZOR sharp. Don't think it'd be hard to make it razor sharp, if you really wanted to. Feels well balanced and not flimsy or shaky at all. All the wrappings and parts seem quite snug too.

For 80 bucks this thing is wonderful

Phenomenal sword for $80. Buy it immediately. The blade is exactly as advertised, and more. I almost salivated when I opened the packaging and first saw this beauty. Very light blade, much lighter than my practical plus katana, which has a thinner blade. Bo-hi for the win. It has a true hamon, but the blade actually seems to have minimal differential tempering, as the blade has quite a bit of flexibility. I bent the blade cutting a 2" sapling with a horizontal cut, but it bent right back. Very Sharp in every way.
4/5
-Cameron Cornell
