This new Hibben Assault knife combines a unique trigger-grip handle and a powerful full- tang blade to make one functional, tactical knife! This is a unique collectible that should be passed down for many future generations to enjoy.
Extremely pleased with this one. Heavy, well balanced and well made.Razor sharp right out of the box. Worth EVERY dime!! Highly recommended for anyone looking for an above average tactical assault blade.
This knife is not only one of the coolest knifes I've seen, but it's also VERY VERY well made and I would highly recommend this masterpiece knife to anyone. It comes with a 7 1/2 blade which I expected to be kinda small but surprising ly it's not all that much smaller than my 14 in. Bowie, the only difference is the blades on the 2 Bowies are different size from the blade to the back of the knife, but that just makes it even better!!!:) Great knife!!!:)
The design of this handle is absolutely amazing. It fits my Giant hands, and my wife's tiny hands comfortably. a well-designed knife all around.
Well made, solid, sharp right out of the box. Nice balance. Feels great in hand. I got myself across the knuckle with this one! Just a graze but opened it right up. I really like the trigger guard style hilt on some of the Hibben knives. I just think it adds to the overall appearance of the knife, as well as to the feel of your grip, more secure. Something that no one else I know has in there collection. This knife is going to get used. I will have to buy a second one for display purposes because THIS blade is going to be used - a lot!
This is a class act. It is what a Bowie style knife should be. I like the sub-hilt design of the handle. Mine came very sharp. It fits well in my hand. Love the balance. This is both art and functional.
Impressive blade and for the money, unbelievable! The size and balance of this knife is extremely comfortable. The overall build and quality excellent for a China made knife. I guess the quality out of China has gotten a lot better than in the past. My favorite of all my purchases!
Feels great on your hands, mighty powerful , you could conquer a battlefield with this authentic lethal weapon. I would sincerily recomend this precious fighting knive.
I have had this knife for about 2 months and it is one of my favorites. I couldn't believe the design, quality and workmanship. Thanks for a great blade.
Got this the other day and its the sharpest knife I have ever ordered out of the box ! Its a beautiful blade, great grip, and it even shaved the hair right off my arm ! This is by far the best thing I have purchased from BUDK to date .... 2 thumbs up Mr Hibben :)
Flawless. Perfectly weighted, came sharp, the sheath fits the knife like a glove, and it just feels plain RIGHT to hold. Not to mention it really is a pretty knife. My only complaint is that it doesn't have my initials engraved on it, but that's my own fault because of how excited I was to just get the thing ordered and on it's way to me. Definitely worth every dime. I always order my knives from trueswords and have yet to be disappointed with them.
What a class act.....finished beautifully....gorgeous blade.....required no initial sharpening....I'm a knife user, not storer....put this through its paces like the 5027 I purchased...chopping/poking/batton yada yada.......held an excellent edge...minimal touch up easily restored.....holding this is just plain comfortable....will make an excellent hunting knife or camping knife. I bought this over the 1095 based Ontario SP line which I respect....I have too much water/salt exposure in my activities...thus a very rust resistant 7cr17MOV steel serves me well. I can buy what I choose....I like the design of this knife, the .18 thick spine/full tang/beautiful micarta scales and pinning and the well structured hilt/subhilt. No one celebrates its Chinese origin, but aside from that, very very pleased with the product and would buy again. Also I should mention that the provided leather sheath is quite nice, thick and supports and protects the blade well....also looks quite sharp.
I love this knife, it feels fantastic and is razer sharp, well made quality !! I just wished I had not asked BUDK to engrave it and another knife I had ordered as a gift! A monkey could have done a better job, It was put in a stupid place on the blade and was not straight and was stamped not engraved!!! Spoilt the look of a great blade just no care taken so thanks BUDK such a shame after years of great service!! NEVER AGAIN BEWARE and don't waste $5 Guess this will not get posted
I've wanted to have a bowie knife for sometime and purchased the Gil Hibben Assault Knife to check the quality. I normally purchase only "name" brand knives (i.e. Kershaw, Gerber, Buck, Cold Steel, etc.) for the known quality of their knives and the Assault knife impressed me from the moment I removed it from the box. The quality of both the knife and the sheath were immediately apparent. The knife blade was sharp, even after notching some seasoned red oak it would easily take the hair off my arm. This knife has become a daily companion whether riding in its sheath on my belt or near at hand stored in my vehicle. I have since ordered several other Gil Hibben knives from BudK. Their products and service have been excellent to date and I look forward to doing more business with them in the near future.
I truly like every aspect of this knife enough so that I bought one for each of my nephews. Sharpening it the way Grandpa taught me fifty some year ago took a good while, mask the blade to keep it pretty, coarse oilstone 1500 cutting strokes each side, remask for 600 strokes waterstone 400strokes 1000 waterstone shaves dry hair right off my forearm its now in my bugout bag nuff said
I've had the Hibben Legacy knife and never considered not using it til I bought this. It fits my hand perfectly. Don't get me wrong I love all my Hibben knives. It's just this best suits my needs now. Great knife at a great price.
This is an excellent bowie knife made with the skill and craftsmanship you expect from a Gil Hibben knife. The custom trigger grip handle makes this knife easy to hold on to and just feels natural in your hand. Very well designed and balanced. You can't beat the price either, even without the discounts that BUDK consistently offers to their customers. It is a steal if you get this knife under 50 bucks.
Another Home Run by Hibben. Fairly sharp out of the box but a few swipes on a honing steel and it became sharp enough to shave with. Beautiful knife: well balanced, nice heft and holds a good edge. The sheath is nice--it IS REAL LEATHER, not what another reviewer described as a hardened paper (ridiculous!) it is a very stiff leather, though, and I resolved that with a Mink Oil treatment. I think the leather is thirsty and needs some TLC and some nutrients, is all!
Great knife, impressive design and quality. Very sharp. Hibben does it again.
Top drawer overall quality. This knive was well designed for grip, balance and strength. My buying a second of this same knife shows that this retired military officer with 40 years of experience funds what works well.
This is a very nice little weapon and the price is right. It has the full tang, great grip and the designer's name is one you can trust. All in all, I may have to buy a second one for the wife.
I believe this to be the best Hibben knife yet, this knife has a practical use, it looks good in a collection but this one screams " use me." 7cr17 stainless is easy to sharpen and keep sharp. The point of balance is right wear it should be,it feels good in your hand. One thing I've learned is guy's love a sub-hilt knife and this one is the best. Thank you. Daniel of Nebraska.
Quality of the knife is very good. China has caught up with American quality. It's tough moral problem when you can get similar quality from China for about one-third the price of an American product.
Being a cutlery dealer and being in the industry for some time I decided to wear the knife at my cutlery booth. Many asked to see the knife and asked if I would take their order or one. Since I do special order on items. The kife is sharp out of the box, and the sheath is of quality. And as another posted on this item just seeing it in the sheath looks intimidating.
I have four Hibben Knives and planning to buy more for my collection. So for they have all been top notch. I have big hands and some of them could be bogger handles. The sheaths are good also.
This knife is well made and so far has surpassed my expectations. The sheath is very well made and heavy duty.
I think this is a great knife.I collect knives and swords and really like this one.I will use this one.In reference to papaindinca's comment about the handle, mine looks identical to the picture.thanks for a good product.
This is a great survival knife. The only draw back is a cheap poorly fitted sheath. I will have to have one made for it. It's still worth it. You can trust your life to this knife it's that good.
This is a great tactical knife. The finger grip handle makes the knife feel secure in your hand. A very intimidating look when you strap it on. Sometimes intimidation is all it takes. Not razor sharp out of the box but easily sharpened. Highly recommended.
I have looked at this knife for awhile. When I got it I was impressed that the knife was sharp out of the box.The fit of the materials was exceptional. The leather sheath held the knife tightly with no sliding in the sheath when it was snapped in. In workouts with this knife it became one with my hand and I didn't have any hotspots develop in my hands, as has happened with other knives I have had. This knife is truly a collectible, but can also be used as it was intended for self defense. You will not go wrong with this knife. I will be getting two more to put in my bugout bags in the vehicles and at home.
This knife is truly a piece of work and I would recommend it to anyone looking to add it to a collection. As always with true swords the pictures never seem to give this justice, and the feel of the blade with the trigger grip is unbeatable! Great product and with TrueSwords wonderful customer service many problems I had were worked out perfectly. I am a True Swords customer for life.
I've been an edged weapon collector for approx. 40 years, and in all that time, I've never been disappointed with any weapon produced by GH, and this is no exception. Beautiful knife and fine quality sheath.
I love this knife, it has a real good weight to it, feels great in the hand. Whether you're holding it blade forward or reversed it fits the hand very well, a very formidable knife. It holds an excellent, very sharp, edge. My only complaint would be that the handle does not look the way it appears in the picture, although it is still a nice looking handle I would have preferred that it looked the way it was portrayed. Still, very much worth the money in my opinion.
I have a couple of Gil Hibben's knives now and this one is quickly becoming my favorite. I liked the design and the fit and finish exceeded my expectations for the price I paid.
Great balance, excellent steel quality; holds edge well. Handle a little slick, but with the finger lock, it grips well and is easy to maneuver either forward or behind. Would recommend this even against knives with leather or corded-wrapped, or rubber grip handles.
The Design, Fit, Finish & Overall Quality of this Knife are Excellent, especially considering the very reasonable price offered by BUDK. The sheath is another story, it does appear to be made of "compressed leather pieces", is too tight, and the retaining strap is too short to secure. This knife would easily rate a "5" with a better sheath. In spite of the sheath, I have ordered a duplicate of this knife at the request of a close friend. We are both very pleased with the knife and would strongly recommend it!
The knife is one of the beautiful weapons I have ever held. Razor sharp, nice craftsmanship, a solid blade and an overall gorgeous knife. The sheath on the other hand, is absolute garbage. It's not real leather, it is made out of a hardened paper-like material. The belt loop snapped off the first day i wore it and i had to pay to have a custom sheath built for it. IF you buy this knife, be prepared to pay for a custom sheath
-Knife- This is a very solid knife and it feels good in the hand, however I do recommend this particular knife to someone who has large hands otherwise your index finger will not sit comfortably within the finger guard. The knife's weight center favors the handle just a 1/4in from the bolster so it does not vibrate in your hand if you hit something in a swing. The blade is of decent making and I would place it in a higher quality tier compared to other fixed bladed knives at similiar pricing. The steel is very difficult to hone and I could not achieve "of razor quality" due to the density of the steel, however the edge I was able to apply held up very well and only needs a touch-up ever few days in a heavy use environment. -Sheath- Fresh out of the package it looks to be of excellent quality, but this is NOT a sheath for high use, or much of any use for that matter. This is the particle board design for leather, it's as if shredded leather was packed and pressed together with hot glue and a thin leather "skin" is glued to the outside as well to make it look fancy. The only thing that held up to the abuse was the stitching and the pistol lock button. The first thing to go is the entire belt loop where the loop meets the sheath. While on your person the leather skin will unbind from the rest of the sheath during times heat, movement, and weakens the overall belt loop, eventually tearing itself apart. I give this whole product a 4 out of 5 as a reflection on the sheath and not the knife, as it is of good quality. -suggestions- If you buy this knife, use the sheath as long as you want but I would suggest a custom sheath to be built. Preferably authentic leather as your first choice; it can be quite expensive based on the quality you want, it's worth it though. If you're on a budget then a tough nylon sheath with a retainer wall inside will be your second best choice. It will hold water in the threads if it becomes wet, so a toasty sun bath will be needed afterward.
I love this knife, It's a lot sharper then I thought, only on account that I sliced my finger going across the blade. In addition I am also trying to get my little brother & cousin to join Budk.
A very good knife, the only flaw I saw was that the edge appeared to have been ground in instead of sharpened in, which was easily cleared with my sharpening stones and honing rods along with a quick polish. Now its the star of my collection.
Great knife for the price, however, don't let the pictures in the catalog of Gil Hibben at work fool you, this knife says "China" right on the blade (therefore only 4 stars). A little disappointed since made in China was not noted in the catalog or on the website. We'll see how Chinese stainless steel holds up in the long run.
A good solid knife, there were some manufacturing marks on the knife where the blade meets the hand guard. Couldnt get it to sharpen up as well as some more expensive blades, but it holds a edge. Probably the best chinese made fixed blade knife i have purchased.
