Gil Hibben Old West Bowie Knife Damascus

I got this knife ten or twelve years ago with money from my first job. My brother and I spent lots of time forging trails through the woods. I cut down trees about a foot in diameter easily with this knife. I cut off a dead dear’s head with this knife. I killed somewhere between 18 and 25 rattlesnakes with this knife. I’ve sliced tri tip steaks for weastern banquets in the Mojave desert with this knife. I’ve thrown, chopped, sliced, baton’d, dropped, swam, hiked, eaten and otherwise used this knife for years and used it hard and this knife never quits. Here I am ten or twelve years later and the tip is a little bent. The bayonet guard came off years ago.those are my only “complaints.” This knife doesn’t stop. It’s about time to honorably retire this one. Hang it over the fireplace. I’d like a new one. Thanks for over ten years of great knife memories.

Yeah! I Like It! This is a fighting knife. Zombie hoards, are fearful of this one for sure. Late night intruders... are doomed. What else can be said. This is a big sharp knife that is a purpose built weapon. Not for vines or timber its too pretty. Oh... this one makes the Timber Rattler look kinda midgety. Side by side this knife is noticeably larger. The tip tapers to needle sharp. I was thinking about sleeping with it under my pillow but I don't need the shave. It was sharp out of the box. I made it sharper.

I have been buying products from BudK for a long time and for the money and service you can't beat them. I got one of the Gil Hibben Damascus Bowies and it's the best Bowie I have. It will do anything you need it to do and comes super sharp.

HAD PROBLEMS WITH GETTING THE KNIFE, GOT THE STAINLESS STEEL VERSION BY ACCIDENT & DID NOT GET THE SHEATH FOR THE RAMBO 4 MACHETE THAT I ALSO ORDERED,SO I HAD TO SEND THEM BOTH BACK BUT THE COSTUMER SEVICE WAS EXCELLENT. ONTO THE KNIFE. THIS KNIFE IS LIKE NO OTHER. I THOUGHT THAT BECAUSE IT WAS A PUSH TANG, THAT IT WOULD FEEL LIKE IT WOULD FALL APART BUT IT'S WELL MADE, LIKE THAY USED CEMENT OR SOME ADHESIVE LIKE THAT. MY ONLY WISH IS THAT ONE DAY SOMEONE WOULD MAKE A FULL VISABLE TANG VERSION WITH A FLAT GRIND. "THAT" KNIFE WOULD BE UNSTOPPABLE. BUT THAT TAKES NOTHING AWAY FROM THIS ONE. IT'S AN AMAZING "FIGHTING" BOWIE ! 5 STARS EASY FOR BOTH THE KNIFE & THE COSTUMER SERVICE. THANK YOU SO MUCH !

I just got this knife and its amazing, it was sharp right out of the box, amzing quality, BEST KNIFE I OWNNNN!!!!

This knife truly is bad a**, it will get any job done in no time. My one complaint with this otherwise flawless knife is that the steel was not made in America. The reason that is even an issue is because American steel is much higher quality than Chinese steel. I only bring this up because in the product description it made no mention as to where the knife was actually made. The knife is powerful as well beautiful don’t get me wrong, but it would be unstoppable if the blade were made from American steel. 5/5

As a long time devotee of the Bowie knife, this knife by Gil Hibbens' tops the list of my collection. I am 6' 6" tall, and I find that this monster is almost too much knife for me. I love it! I'm polishing off the acid etch before I sharpen it. The delivery time and customer service is fantastic as always!

Just got this as a gift. I collect blades, but more of the affordable kind, this by far is the best bowie/knife i own. I can't stop holding it! Damascus steel is now my favorite.

Excellent knife, used it in the woods multiple times and this sucker has some chopping power. Sharpened it up a bit more and now this thing is a monster in your hand. Very heavy, worth the extra cost for the Damascus version.

First off i would like to say how fast the shipping was, Thank you BudK. Next comes the review, This sucker is big! And sharp too! Cut my finger on it first day i got it! Heavy and looks like it could take down a polar bear! I will definitely be coming back here

The best ever. period

Very impressive when you first take it out but, grip is too small for this huge knife, not comfortable. Damascus lines are hard to see. Not very sharp at all! That was my main complaint, had to sharpen myself. But it is a good looking knife, sheath is good quality. I guess was expecting better cause of the name.

This knife is a P.O.S.! I am scared it might break in my hand when i hold it, came super dull. They claim this damascus was folded 1200 times or something this results in such a tightly grained damascus you have to look very hard to even see that it is damascus. bought the Timber Rattler and i love it!
