Japanese Odachi Sword

The Shinwa Colossus Handmade Odachi is built around an immense 45" heat-forged carbon steel blade that gives the sword its imposing reach. Measuring 69" overall, the odachi follows the extended proportions of traditional Japanese great swords. The blade is forged from carbon steel and mounted with full-tang construction, creating a solid structure suited to the sword’s substantial size. A hardwood handle wrapped in leather provides a steady grip along the long hilt and balances the extended blade. When not in use, the sword rests inside a black lacquered wooden scabbard that protects the steel while complementing the clean, dark lines of the mounted piece. With its considerable length and traditional materials, the Colossus Odachi serves as a commanding display sword within a collection of Japanese arms.
