I had the 50lb cheap one just to start and I was very underwhelmed… I shoot pencils with rubber bands harder but I just got this one and I love it. Not only is the cocking so much easier with the handle, it shoots really nice and hits with some force. It’s gone straight through most things I’ve shot with it, which when compared to the one I used to have its a significant improvement. I’m getting ready to buy more bolts now because I held off, when I bought the old one I got a bunch of extras and wound up never using them because the thing barely went through a cardboard box(most times it bounced off if I wasn’t like five foot from it) so it was useless. I did go an tighten all of the screws, just because it feels a little loose. The metal grip and such is a wonderful improvement from the all plastic one. The old one felt toy-ish. When you grab this one though you can feel it’s gonna do some damage. Straight through this old pumpkin I’ve had in the yard from 20+ft away. Extremely accurate too.

It was easy to assemble with the exception of stringing it-you'll need a second set of hands for this. Instructions were vague but there's a good BUDK video on YouTube that covers any questions. Once together I found out how powerful and fun it is! And surprisingly accurate right out of the package! My only real critism is it would greatly help if some string wax was included. Order some when you order this-youre gonna need it.

I have had mine over 4 years.. I use the 12 inch arrows. I started using the small aluminum & the plastic arrows. I switch when I felt the power in It. They have the tools you need. I have got, the more expensive for hunting. Considering the price you can't ever go wrong.

Took me half a day to figure out how to string it. You tube videos not very helpful. Used copper wire to help string it. Once done was shocked at power and accuracy. Easy to cock! Don’t need a sight to be accurate. Don’t plan to use for varmints but believe it would kill. Very pleased with purchase!

First things first, look up how to install the bowstring on youtube if you're having trouble. What I did was just slightly sit on the prods to bend them enough then i attached the bowstring. This thing shoots bolts really accurately and quickly. the included bolts are good, but i recommend buying more as well. Make sure to remember to put some rail lube and bow wax on it to preserve the life, since these tend to wear out easier (pistol crossbows in general, really). You're going to want to apply it every 5-10 uses as the directions imply, and it's actually very important you do so. For the rail lube, most any lubricant will work that would work for like bearings and machinery. Don't bother getting anything that costs too much. Gun lube even works. String wax, is the same deal, as long as it's actual string wax. Take care of this beast, and it'll last you a while. I shot straight into some plywood and it hits to about half an inch embedded into it. Keep in mind it was ash, as well. This thing will work for hunting and self defense.

I Love this Crossbow!!! I bought it just for fun, and target practice! I installed a red dot laser sight, and I was able to put 4 or 5 bolts into a quarter size diameter spot, and a couple of them even went into the end of a preceding bolt!!! A very accurate, and powerful "Beast"!!!! I am very Impressed!!! It is Definately not a TOY!!!

I'm very happy with this purchase. This thing is a beast! First off, its nice and solid with much less recoil than I was expecting. Not to mention its quite powerful for its size. It took a helping hand to get it strung, but that wasn't a problem. Thanks Budk Team

It takes a little to string it. Buy some extra Bolts. I broke the flights off one as it went through a box. They look like they could be replaced and would screw in but I do not see the replacements here. It's a better quality than I expected for the price. The sights are easily adjusted and seem to stay in place but there are higher quality sights. It a lot of fun but It's not a toy. Adult supervision is necessary

love it. powerful easy cocking system. I use red dot sight. groups well in 2 !/2 inch circle. small compact hand held crossbow. something to fear. you'll like this also.

i shot mine threw four layers of deneim and a sheet of plywood. i think its a great deal. it will get the job done. keep up the good work BUDK. i give it 5 stars all the way i will tell all my freinds.

This thing is like a beast! I shoot it in my backyard almost every day. I took it to my friends house and I shoot at a thick piece of cardboard with a big bunch of wood on the other side, it went through both of them! I ended up losing a bolt, in a hay bill. Stringing it took a lot of muscle but after it was ready, it is like a real pistol! No wonder they call it the cobra!
Aug 15, 2015

Easy to use and a lot of fun. I have been using it for almost a month and no problems. Like everyone has been saying in the review the arrow do brake, but only when used on hard wood. I found using layers of cardboard and thick foam to be good. Over all this is a great crossbow for shooting targets in the back yard small and sturdy.

This 80# draw pistol crossbow is just awesome, had mine about 3 weeks now and let me tell ya'll it is functional! So far from at about 30/35 yards away & for quick load & launch for taking down any moderately sized creature this is it. Maintenance & durability is quite easy & proficient yet simple but remember it is a weapon not a toy!

Strong little pistol, putting the string in requires a little strength and ingenuity. I strung mine on a carpeted surface with the strung side against the carpet and bent it in conjunction with the other side of the bow I was bending by hand. Overall it is easy to cock and easy to load bolts. I have read reviews that plastic bolts are more durable. In my shooting methods I find the stock bolts to be much more durable. I have broken at least 6 plastic bolts I ordered based on other reviews. I have shot the stock aluminum just as much and they are still intact. Regardless a good little bow, fun to shoot and if sighted properly could be used for small game.

This beauty can tear through steel plating so it's a pretty awesome thing to have during an apocalypse or if someone broke into your home

Well designed and built sturdy. It's fairly accurate, and definitely fun at short range. A little difficult to string on your own. Like someone else said, the bolts aren't the strongest ever. It was pretty simple to put together,(except for the stringing). ;) Overall great bow for the price!
Mar 03, 2014

This crossbow is the greatest. I could've gotten a bigger and stronger one, but this sits right in the middle of them all. It's easy to cock with the self cocking mechanism. This is easy to adjust as far as sighting and powerful enough for whatI use it for, mainly target shooting. All in all, it's a 5 star crossbow.

Yes, I just recently purchased this Hand Crossbow, and it is one nice crossbow. It feels good in my hand, and it shoots right where I aim it, every time. I would recommend this product, to anyone who is looking for a nice small hand crossbow. It has the power you want, and is still small enough to be handy. Also has soon as I can get enough money, I'm going to purchase another one.
Dec 25, 2013

Very cool product for the price, enough power for some serious target practice!
Nov 02, 2013

Bought mine a while back, and love it! Put a reflex sight on mine, nothing can get away now!
Oct 13, 2013

I bought this from BUDk and I am very happy with it. It is not a toy! Yes it is a lot of fun, but make sure you use the same rules as a firearm. After I got this thing sighted in, it's pretty actuate. Make sure you get ALOT of bolts. Your bolts will brake after a while. If you want them to last use a big chunk of foam for a target. Wood destroyed the bolts after only a few shots.

Price is right. Well made. Right out of the box-every screw was loose, tightened those up. Used a small ratchet type tiedown to string the bow. When aiming I couldn't find front sight because of rear sight same color. Bought some flourescent pink fishing lure touch-up paint, painted the front sight and bam what a difference. I plan on painting the rear sight white outline. Got some bow string wax and waxed the rail, and used a Q-tip to put some vaseline in the cocking slide, helps alot! Is pretty accurate and plenty powerful for a hand held crossbow. Too bad the engineers didn't design the cocking lever to bend down a little more, it would make a great brace on the forearm. It is FUN, but is definitely NOT a TOY.
Oct 06, 2013

I took off the stock sight and put a rail adaptor on it that I got for$6.00 and then put a green laser on it. No more aiming, just point n shoot. Right out of the box I took my first shot at a telephone pole about 50 ft. Down my alley and hit it dead center. Nice little bow. Buy one n you won't regret it.

I recently purchased this crossbow from BUDK. It has more power than you might think. It was much more accurate than I thought it would be.At 25yards I can keep it in a circleabout 6 " in diameter. When firing be very carefull of ricocheas coming back at you . Great product BUDK !!!

Perfect right out of the box! This is a great addition to personal protection at home. Not a substitute, but a great product to add to home security. Also very reasonably priced. Fast delivery, easy to assemble, and very well made. I have purchased several items from BudK, and all are the same high quality.
Mar 01, 2013

I gave it to my son-in-law for his birthday. We assembled it and rushed outside to try it. it was easy to shoot and the learning curve wasn't too bad. lot of fun for the money.
Feb 24, 2013

Its not a toy! The best, be careful! Love it! Use Aluminum arrows for full power. It went through my wall & into the wall behind it lost arrow. Shot firedoormade of steel coated tip entered. Broke arrow. Has power of a 32 had gun. Only thing it has no scope. Love it. Be carefull.!!!
Feb 04, 2013

I bought this on a whim think it would be more like a toy but this is a nice crossbow. I plan on buy a few more! And now my wife wants one!
Jun 10, 2020

Had to look up a you tube video to put it together. Instructions are a joke. However once I got it together it shot very well. Much more powerful than I had expected. Definitely not a toy. This little bow could due serious damage.

Oct 04, 2018

This is a really good crossbow, especially for the money, I got mine for $30. Its pretty powerful and will bury itself in hay bales so you can't find it. It also can shoot through compressed wood plates, which is also impressive. The only problem with this is that it lack the power to kill a raccoon. If you try to kill a raccoon with this thing it just barely sticks into him. It will not penetrate through the poor animal, so if you are looking for a cheap hunting weapon, this isn't it. Its really fun for target practice though and is worth the money. -SamueL
Oct 16, 2016

I like this crossbow because it's easy to cock faster. I have two and i shot both of them at a target and one was close to the bullseye, and the other was about an inch closer. I shot one near a drain pipe and it when through to the other side. Now that's power! I have the other ones that you have to pull back the metal to cock.(cheap ones).I'm gonna use the older ones just for shooting in the back yard. ''MANCHU''
Sep 21, 2016

The crossbow is very solid and I like its design. It shoots very hard and accurate definitely nothing short of 80lb drawback. The only downside is that the bolts are really small and they could be bigger and the grip is uncomfortable due to the curve on the upper sides. Overall the price is good and the shipping was decent. Oh and the arrow tips are unscrewable so you can put better tips and hunting points for small game.
Oct 27, 2014

Fun and easy to use. only complaint I had to add small lock washers to the two bolts that hold the gold cocking mechanism together to prevent the nuts from falling off.

Jun 17, 2014

This Crossbow is great for the price you pay. Make sure to buy a diferent set of bolts. the ones that come with the bow are not strong enough they break easy
Apr 02, 2014

Overall this is a nice crossbow, especially for the money. My only complaint it the placement of the sight, it is not that sturdy. The second our third day I had mine the sight broke with no way to fix or replace it. It feel about 2.5ft and because this version of the bow (m48) the sight over extended the "barrel" a little bit, which means the slightest bit of pressure the thin plastic holding it will snap. The avalanche pistol crossbow, which is identical in almost every way besides the sight, is positioned in the back more by the cocking device which to me looks a little more sturdy and not add flexible. I bought a scope for it for $29 of Amazon, np big deal. I actually found I am more accurate without the sight or scope at shorter distances (up to 40-50ft away). Kind of like a quick draw, emergency last second shot, add if there was a zombie attack or something lol. All in all great little bow, definitely NOT A TOY.
Apr 01, 2014

I've owned this Crossbow for quite awhile, It's extremely easy to pullback with the pullback mechanism, but i think that the accuracy is extremely poor @ any length greater than 20 feet, it was pretty easy to put together, but it's good for basic Tree/Target shooting at extremely short range, Warning note, the Bolts are very easy to break so the Ammo is a Pain.
