  • Tactical hammer, spike, walking staff in one tool
  • Cast stainless steel head
  • Powerful curved back spike
  • Fiberglass and reinforced nylon handle
  • Overall length: 37 3/8"

The M48 Tactical Survival Hammer from United Cutlery is the perfect companion for hiking and camping. With a 37 3/8" overall length, it's great as a walking staff, and the cast stainless steel, black oxide-coated head can pound practically anything into submission with ease. The curved back spike is an effective breaching tool and a great defensive alternative to the stout hammerhead. The spike and hammer together make an excellent handle for a fully functional walking cane. The 30 percent fiberglass handle is nearly indestructible, and the hammerhead is attached to it with metal bolts. The shaft includes a rubber toe on the end for improved traction.

Lasted about 1 year.

Best cane I’ve ever owned. I’ve used it to dig, split and break up wood for the fire, even to pry of my muffler. But, the rubber staff (Handle.) only breaks because the Metal Head breaks where the Jackson (?) screws holes are (Where they secure the staff & the Head together. Straight on hits are good. Just make sure it doesn’t side smack something or put to much force behind an angled hit or it will snap. Because of this weakness I fell that it could be a little less expensive. But, the wow factor does it justice.

War Hammer!

This is absolutely worth every penny. First thing I did was smash bricks and various other things! The way the head is attached is awesome. Super secure and after an afternoon of smashing things it never came loose.

Why a fiber glass handle?

Fiber glass can itch and sting really bad, but other then that this thing looks super awesome.

take it from a modern barbarian

I purchased this hammer last week and it came in today, I must say it is by far better than the video shows. luckily for me I was off work so I spent part of my afternoon smashing cinder blocks , flower pots , and of course a jack o' lantern ( it is the season after all even carved the little fellow a face ) it turned those blocks to gravel , shattered the pots thoroughly , and smashed the pumpkin up really nice. the weight is perfect and the head of the hammer is attached very well , after all that smashing it didn't come loose at all. the grip is comfortable and the butt of the handle is fitted with a rubber cap. rather fitting since it's the perfect height to use for walking( I am 6 ft 2 in and it is at the right level for me to use as a cane if need be ) this hammer is worth every cent spent on it and it is far more durable than any sword. this is perfect for the barbarian in me, I am a big guy with a big beard and now the big weapon to boot. thank you true swords you've made a repeat customer out of me.

Looks Badass

I bought it for a walking stick. I have not had to use it yet for self-defense, but I am certain that one good whack from this thing will do the job. Negatives: the handle feels to small and light, creating a balance issue. But, for a walking stick it is ok. Also, unlike the small tactical warhammer, the spike in this one is not sharp. I have both, the hand-held, smaller hammer had a lethal spike on it. This one -the larger one - is not nearly as ominous. I would not go into battle with it, but I will walk around the neighborhood with it. As always, shipping was very fast.

HEAD TO HEAVY FOR THE BASE

Thought this would make a viable cane for walking at night where a little "help" might be in order. Hard to make anyone beleive it is just a cane; too long for my 5'8" body and the top is much too heavy to be supported by the shaft which is attached. If one does not hit perfectly, the shaft will snap

Great hammer

Ive seen a few reviews saying this hammer isnt good because the handle breaks under the tang but i bought one and it is awsome ive hit and broke concrete, cinder blocks, bricks, and a few house hold appliances, and even broke down a couple of smaller sized tree. It works good as a walking cane and it is very strong ive over striked it a few times and its fine. If you are thinking of buying it do it.

Great hammer

broke the 2nd time i used it

"indestructible" is a poor way to describe this cheaply made plastic toy. the second time i ever took it out it broke on a tree that was barely even as thick as the handle. save your money and buy a sledgehammer from your local home improvement store.

Almost scary

Just received this warhammer, once again...shipping was faster than predicted. Took it to the state park for a winter hike...works great as a walking stick. Great conversation starter...the only problem is that people want to 'hold' it. My only complaint would be that the handle feels a bit slim. Not a problem, I also bought 300 feet of paracord same order. Spent about 30 minutes putting a nice decorative wrap on the handle and now it's awesome. Some people look a little concerned when they see me walking down the street with it because, hey, it is a weapon. But it's just the right height for a walking stick so they can't really complain.

Almost scary

Not strong enough

It's a good concept. The hammer head itself is a monster. However the handle WILL NOT stand up to the abuse that the actual hammer can put out. Broke the handle 3rd screw down, slicing my thumb open. The company does NOT have replacement handles and will send you a smaller "hatchet type" handle totally defeating the purpose of having a WALKING HAMMER. Don't do it.

Not strong enough

Dissapointed

I have a small personal defense store in CO. I offered the M48 line to my customers untill about a week ago. I sold this Hammer to a customer who took it home and used it on a 2x4. about 20 min later he brought the hammer back in 2 pieces. It had snapped right at the third screw down. He had not missed and hit the handle, just the force of empact was too much for the cheap fiber glass handle. I attempted to get the company to take care of it but they refused. I have canceled all my M48 orders. Go COLD STEEL. They use polymer and warranty theyre products.

Dissapointed

Fantastic item, torture tested and terrific!

I’m giving my review in two parts, out of necessity: I have two of these, one for beating the H**l out of and one as my "Sunday Go-to-beatin'" dress walking stick and they exceed expectations for both purposes. I made a few mods to them, which made it perfect. First, I replaced the bolts with stainless steel barrel bolts and mating screws, so I could easily break them down with just a screwdrivers. This way, I can take the head off, slip a trimmed piece of rubber into the flange slot, replace the bolts, and viola! I’ve got a TSA and Federal-building-approved walking stick, while I stow the metal head safely away. The metal is so tough, I needed a carbide bit to drill the holes out to put in the slightly bigger bolts. Seriously, it wrecked normal stainless bits even just trying to widen the hole about 1/16”. I also took off the rubber toe and screwed on a 3/4” chromed steel spike to turn it into a spear on the bottom. I use rubber hiking pole feet to cover the spike, but they strip off with a quick twist and it’s ready for rough terrain. I took the "field" version to the junkyard and absolutely ripped apart an old Cadillac with it. The car had 85% structural integrity when I started and less than 40% after two hours of mayhem. Literally non-frame and drive train element was destroyed, and while the black oxide coating was scraped up, the metal underneath held up fantastically. The corner spikes on the hammer face were chewed up a bit and dented down a little, but that didn’t seem to make a difference it caused. The pick was scraped up, but nothing really affected it structurally. The shaft was marked up, but a sanding block took care of that. That fiberglass-reinforced nylon handle really is nearly indestructible. Next, I took it into mountains in Arizona, where it held up to 12 hours of hiking, mountaineering, and even being used as a climbing pick in rocky terrain. It was a little more beat up, but a wire brush and some machine oil took care of that.

Fantastic item, torture tested and terrific!

Almost perfect

The only thing that I think could be improved is the thickness of the handle...a little thin for my tastes, but a nice paracord wrapping will easily remedy that. Overall this thing is bad**s. Get one, aim it at something you can pretend is a zombie, and get to it!

Almost perfect

Great cane for an old man

A great cane and walking stick! Good self defense weapon in disguise. My wife said it was a very masculine cane for a man.

solid strong and durable

This hammer is extremely durable. After roughly 1 hour of abuse this hammer is still intact and is barely damaged. It smashes through 2x4s, plywood, concrete, various metal objects, archery targets, and just about everything in my backyard. Good fun for the whole family!

solid strong and durable
