It is a well made blade, although a little heavy for what I expected (note, it would be great if you could start putting the weight on the sword specs). The Habaki, seppa and koiguchi became a little loose after iaido practice for 2 months (no cutting, just air), but I guess that makes sense for the price. It is sharp in the general sense, but not enough to real katana standards. Good piece for the price.
After getting my katana I honestly didn’t expect it too be that good of a sword. The blade was very sharp, not scratches or dints, everything was clean with no damage. Though the price me be low, you’re getting a very good sword at that price. Will def buy again
Make no mistake,This is no wall piece and I would put my life on the line with this sword to prove it's battle ready. Just built so solid. My hat is off to the person who put this beauty together.
I bought this sword on 04/09/2016 and it is very nice. The sword is sturdy and very sharp. It did not come razor sharp but a little sharping can do that. For the $39.99 This is a very high quality sword made by Musha. I am very happy I bought this sword and i will buy from Budk again.
This Katana is well built, lightweight, sturdy and sharp out of the box. I was suprised that i was in awe once again by the Musha/Mushashi brand and i have come to belive that they are now my favorite. I also have th Raging waters Katana from Musha plus this Crane nd i have a few other Musha/Mushashi products. FIVE STARS.
Overally it's really great for the price . The blade came sharp and clean . Its a good cutter , niw ill tell you alll thr bad points . the scabbard gets scratched easily, the blade gets scratched easily too , the blade can rust kinda easy . . Its good for a medium cutting , if you hit it against a tree , it will bend . It's hard to take apart and itll be loose when you put it back together , but that may just be mine . The handle wrapping will start to slide down the after a while of swinging . It's still awsome for the price . It's a good first sword . Like I said before , it's amazing for the price , it's just not the best sword ever , but it is the best sword you can possibly get for the price , unless you find one on sale
Took about a week to deliver , when I got the sword the blade was lubricated with something sticky but thankfully I was able to whip it off. But anyways this sword is very sturdy and heavy isn't that sharp but I would recommend this sword
I gave this to a friend for his birthday without opening it and regretted it. There appears to be glue on the sword itself and making it difficult to remove(seriously). I think the glue came from the handle and just leaked to the sword making it a mess cause it got on the sword.
All I want to say is for $40, you are getting your moneys worth my friend. It cuts well and I still have no dents or nicks in it and I have cut threw a few half inch branches to see what it would do to the blade. Well it is still straight and still cutting strong.
Awesome sword it looks great and it is a great price for such high quality katana.
Im very pleased with this sword, its seems nicer than my old Musashi wich costs 80 or 100$. All the parts are nice, it will be worth even more to me if it cuts well against bamboo & is durable. All in All its unbeatable for the price & quality. If it meets my expectations outside then I'll surely be telling my friends & looking at their new arrivals. Thanks trueswords
this katana looks so effing legit. totally worth $40 the blade is pretty sharp. feels sharp. the tip is a little messed up but nothing a little sharpening cant fix... i think
i just received this sword today in the mail. i was very exceited to get it. the blade came very sharp. although it wasnt as sharp as i expected. other than that its a verry excilent sword. one ive been waiting on for a while. it feels great like its an extention of my own arm. i love the work on the gaurd. i give it a four out of five stars. it didnt quite live up to my expectations but i wasnt dissapointed. im verry satisfyed.
Just got the sword in the mail today and must say its great. You cant beat the price, perfect for beating on stuff in the back yard. Comes very sharp, on mine the fittings where a bit lose but this was an easy fix. Just to let you know if you do swing the sword wrong u will bend the blade but its pretty easy to bend it back into shape. I've bent it a few times and havnt had a problem getting it straight again.
excellent blade!!! price to quality ratio is amazing!!!
If you are looking for a working sword, this is a good candidate. I wanted a back yard cutter so that I would not mar the blade on my 1060 carbon steel Musashi sword. We have native "bamboo" plants on our property and it sliced through them easily, as well as chopping through one inch maple saplings. Sharpening was easy, and the blade took a good edge. If you have reasonable expectations of a $40 sword, this one will not disappoint you. I give it four stars.
THis sword was really awesome to open...but when i opened it ...it was a little loose, but had great weight for a training sword...was a great collection to my sword collection... came pre-oiled.... the she't made a mark on the sword.but i think i can wash it off
Just got the sword today. Man I was stoked. Got it inside and opened the box. Inside was my first true cutting katana and a basic cleaning kit. After I performed a few practice swings out of excitement, I put the cleaning kit to use. The sword is marvelous. After it was cleaned of all the excess oil used for transporting, it shined so bright. It's a blooming shame that is had to go back into the saya. The hamon was obviously brushed on and the brush lines are visible. However, do not let that deter you from this weapon. This is perfect for light cutting and people just getting into tameshigiri or someone looking for a backyard cutter to practice at home with. I would recommend this sword to anyone else that was in the same position as I was and I would recommend true swords.com to anyone looking for any melee weapon merchandise. Thanks true swords.
looks very good , great shape cant wait to see it. this is my first time buying from you guys i hope i chose the right people for this. the details made me want this weapon. wish you guys much luck with the buiseneess
This sword is a very nice sword even though the hamon is not real and most likely wire brushed on for $40 you cant go wrong this sword can go through light cutting and can become sharper. all the fittings are tight and the sword disassembles and assebles very easily and everything goes back together just as tight as it came. the sword stays in the scabbered very well even though mine is alittle tight its nothing that i dont like i would rather have a tight fit then a loose one. all in all buy this sword if your looking for a good light cutter and begining sword or a gift forsomeone wanting to learn swordsmanship. This is also a very sharp blade and not meant to be taken lightly.
