Shinwa Black Nodachi Damascus Steel Sword

"Looks nice. Beautiful case. Beautiful lacquer sheath. However, as nice as it is to look at, it is no good for use, even practice use. The steel is very soft -- you'll notice the first time you sharpen it. The black coating hides the damascus pattern, and wears off easily."

SHINWA BLACK NODACHI SWORD

"AS I CAN SEE IT, THIS SWORD IS ONLY GOOD FOR LOOKS, DISPLAY, AND ADMIRATION BUT NOT GOOD FOR ACTUAL SWORD FIGHT. I AM SURE THIS SWORD CAN NOT HANDLE THE BLOW OF A REAL SWORD, HANDLE WILL SURELY BREAK FOR IT HAS NO SUPPORT AT ALL. ANYWAY IT IS A GOOD LOOKING SWORD BUT DO NOT DEPEND YOUR LIFE ON IT. OVERALL THIS IS ONLY GOOD FOR DISPLAY TO FASCINATE AND ADMIRE ITS ENTIRE BEAUTY......"

shinwa black nodachi

"I purchased this sword thinking it was fully functional. I was seriously wrong, after burying the blade in extremely soft wood the blade bent like no other and nobody likes a bent blade. So I just went with it and beat the h**l out it. All in all shinwa swords are a beautiful conversion piece and display models, but that's about as far as it goes. What a bummer!!"

Great sword one problem

"I received this sword for my birthday and it is a great blade polished nicely but it has only a very very slight curve in is kind of like a 1 edged long sword"

worth the money

"first glance it is a nice looking sword. very sharp out of the box a closer look the pattern is a print It is not made of Damascus steal but still a very nice sword"

Even Images are Deceiving...

"The blade is indeed a very fine master craftsmanship. Very functional and is in much satisfactory for any sword collector or wielder. HOWEVER, though you may see the gold carbon among the blade, do not expect it to be a golden blade, cause it's not. When I got it, there was gold carbon sure, but not much. It's a black damascus blade, nothing more. A little update for anyone if concern of this matter. Despite of such, the katana is a great piece for self-defense and much more."

not what it claims to be

"very disappointing. this sword as described sounded amazing. I have the single sided black demascus already. This sword is not a full double sided sword. it just has the tip sharpened on both sides. Also the claim of a blood groove down the length of the blade? there is noo bloodgroove at all! So now I have 2 of the same sword basically just one has the tip sharpened on both sides. So disappointed. Wish I got the sword that was described. Get the steel version. it actually has all these features"

Always wanted one of these

"I'm glad I waited for what I really wanted in a Katoshi sword cane. Love the red, and I must say that the blade is more red than black, but that looks great with the wood. This sword was not as sharp as the other shinwa blades I own and that was mildly disapointing, so no 5 stars. Beautiful but will need a little sharpning."
