Designed to be worn with the cutting edge down, it has a maroon lacquered sheath with an intricately wrapped sword hanger. The 28 1/2” blade is hand-forged of 1045 high carbon steel and the wooden handle is traditionally wrapped in white cord and faux rayskin. The decorative metal alloy tsuba has the appearance of pewter, which is a complementary contrast to the brass habaki. The sheath also has pewter-colored, metal alloy decorative accents, which match the design of the tsuba. Before the katana, there was the tachi!
