You just thought you had a lockback - THIS IS A LOCKBACK! The monstrous Timber Rattler Scarab Back Giant Pocket Knife features an 8" stainless steel blade housed inside a handle with gray pakkawood scales and stainless steel bolsters. A scarab medallion affords character to the back of the knife. Measures 9 3/4" closed and 17 3/4" overall.
it's so absurd that i had to have it. well made and very sweet looking. i told my friends i have deep pockets
This is the most ridiculous knife I have ever seen. I love it. I've had it for 2 hours and have had 3 people want to have their picture with it. BUDK you never disappoint.
I purchased six of these Giant Lock-back knives, and had them engraved for retirement gifts. The Police Officers that I work with loved them. The knives came pre-sharpened, and arrived in excellent condition. I would like to add a personal "Thank You BUDK" for ensuring the quality care of my order.
This is the one thing I give as a gift. I want my friends and family to be safe. How else would you be safe if not with a huge knife. This thing demands respect.
When I showed this beauty to my wife, she laughed, so hard! I love knives, and have many! I love my wife, but, can only have one. So, like her, I choose the very best! The handle plates of gray are very will finished, and the blade is sharp. I have pulled it through our kitchen ceramic edge sharpener, which did smooth the sharp edge to a razor one. When you put this knife into your right front pocket, you better have a heavy coin purse in the left one, just to balance the load! Timber Rattler went over the top on this one! Yes, it IS a practical knife, because, it's what you are cutting Cantalope or Watermellon with, at the family outing! Keep your eye on it, because others will covet it!
It is bigger than it looks in the picture. It is just insane. Once opened can wield it two-handed. Is it practical? Who cares!! It is insanely the most groovy thing to be seen.
I SHOW THIS TO MY FRIENDS , I TELL THEM I HAVE A SMALL PENKNIFE TO SHOW THEM, I SLOWLY PULL IT OUT ONCE PULLED OUT ALL THE WAY THEY WERE AMAZED AND STARTED LAUGHING THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN A KNIFE THAT BIG. very cool pocket knife,, and also made very good
Words can't do this knife justice this pocket knife is huge with an 8 inch blade this pocket knife will wow anyone you show it to it is a sturdy and durable knife and comes nice and sharp pull this out on a mugger and he will flee for his life amazing pocket knife fits well in deeper pockets and makes all other pocket knives look wimpy this knife is a must have I would highly recommend this knife to anyone who dares own the one knife to rule them all
Love this knife. Conversation piece. Can't wait till Christmas, my boy always asks for my pocket knife to open his gifts. Wait till I pull this monster out of my hip pocket. If you don't have one? I recommend you get one while you can. They are definitely worth the small price to pay. Awesome for the money
Maybe I got lucky with mine; but the quality was surprising for the price. It locks up nice, the blade doesn't have any play. It gets laughs and smiles when I show it off, and mine flicks open one handed no problem... but I do have large hands
Wow, this knife is a LOT bigger than you think, once you get it in-hand! Quality and workmanship is a lot better than other knives by this brand. You actually can use this knife, but you'd have to have a pretty strong wrist to whittle away at a stick. Don't plan on putting it in your pocket unless you wear a belt - it will pull your pants down! I've purchased 3 of these now, as friends who saw my first one said "get me one", so I've added them to subsequent orders. The old Crocodile Dundee phrase "now that's a knife" is very appropriate here. As far as difficulty closing, you need to push the lock in far enough, just like any lockback, only this one is much bigger and takes a lot more effort, as you might expect.
I am still amazed with this knife. I use it daily and I smile everytime. Just popping this massive pocket knife open for a utility bill letter opener makes it fun. I carry a smaller pocket knife for those dainty things, like cleaning my fingernails of grease and grime. Stays sharp just as long as any other pocket knife. Even used it for field dressing a deer once. Works for fishing too. Takes a little bit of getting used to have that much blade, but my regular fishing knife is a WW2 survival knife I found in a river bed some years back. That one has Camillus NY stamped on it, is about 5 inches of blade, once I cleaned the rust off of it and gave it an edge it has been my go to camping and fishing knife. What can I say, for 13 bucks buy a couple. Love it, use it.
I bought 2 knives. One for my son , and one for myself. I watched video , looked at the pictures , but when I got it in my hand .... Ooh boy its giant..., and I love it, my son loves it too. Built well, surgical stainless steel , great look. Buy one, You will not regret.
One now lives in my camp kitchen, which mostly only goes out on Cub Scout forays anymore - so there's quite a bit of giggling over this thing, and I'm getting good usage out of it. EVERYONE cracks up when I toss one of them in my purse - the joke is now that I had to buy a purse large enough for the knife. They're just beautiful...really they are. :)
It is well made, I have no issues with it. Sharp, blade is tight, no wobble or rattles. I have no problem with it being hard to open or close. It is just so big it seems so wrong to look at it in your hand. But it feels so right at the same time. Well made, I would love to have a different type of material for the handle, "Pakka" wood is ok but a bone handle would be great. SO long as it isn't made of plastic. Serious piece of knife. It is scary to some people without even opening it. Love it. I would also like it to have a loop or hole to attach a lanyard or a carabiner to clip it on a belt loop. It is so large only coat pockets can hold it or my carpenter jeans tool pocket. Great on the job knife. Might buy a second one or maybe even third just so I can have one to keep nice and actually use it everyday.
I ordered this for my friend as a Birthday gift. It arrived yesterday and I made sure it open and close smoothly and it did. I'm thinking of ordering one for myself that's how much I like it. It's worth buying.
Man what a big knife lol 17 3/4 inch omg never seen a knife lockback like this before dude BUDK is so number 1 product seller they are cool and you cant beat the prices at all not one bi
Holy sharpie this knife aint no joke what a great collection piece of art and beautiful design
Great Buy!!! Great conversation piece, if nothing else. Actually, it is very well made and quite solid. I showed it to my brother, and he ordered one before leaving my house.
This is an awesome knife, just to have. Hell I can spend more at McDonalds and this is a gorgeous quality knife. It's also a perfect match to the Timber Bowie I just purchased. So buying this was a no brainer. Great big knife.
Very pleased with this knife caused quite a surprise reaction when someone asked to borrow my pocket knife.
This is the Second one I bought so that should say something right there ? Bought the first as part of a two knife Christmas present for my Brother We saw one of these Beasties at a Gun show and I could see his Eyes sort of Glaze over when he saw this knife !!! So I knew he'd like it and he did! While it is a Practical knife and appears well made with Quality materials and excellent fitment This is one of those Bragging rights kinda things and sort of a Novelty knife just from the sheer awesome size of the knife !!! it's like everyone on the outdoor rang has Ar-15's and you break out the 80BMG !!! overall very impressed with the knife GREAT VALUE FOR THE PRICE !!! And like I said earlier although Ginormously huge in comparison to your average folder IT IS STILL A PRACTICAL KNIFE , tool AND WEAPON Should you need to use it as such ? I'm betting if you have to pull this on someone who doesn't have a Gun or isn't Special Forces trained that they'll probably Crap their pants and run like hell in that particular order ! Like the laminated scales and if I had to pick nits I would only make two suggestions ? one is a lanyard hole would be nice and two altough this is Billed as a pocket knife Anyone smaller than Paul Bunyan would find this a little big for the pocket !!! So a pouch either Nylon leather or Kydex would make thia knife more a useable tool and less of a collectible oddity !! but to be fair it's like $12.99 so maybe they could offer a pouch /holster / scabard whichever most correctly applies to this knife as a accessory for a few extra bucks Just saying ! Also it's a lockback Fyi - yes would recommend to a friend
I got three more of these great knives. I gave one to a friend and he loved it! Be careful, though. This is such a huge knife that in many citiies it is not even legal to carry. I am now looking for a leather belt sheath to carry it in. Love it! Dee Barker
Definitely a unique item, would make a great gag gift or gift to any knife collector. I have about 50 knives and don't have anything like this. I was smiling when I pulled this one out of my Budk shipment. Thanks guys, keep up the good work!
I Love collecting knifes and this one is a great one to have. I will treasure it for a long time.
I just got the Timber Rattler Scarab Back Giant Folder today, and when I opened it up I was so amazed at how big it was. I've never in my life seen a pocket knife this size. I love the look of it and the overall appearance of it. I showed it to a few friends of mine and there mouths just dropped. The could not believe the size of it. Now they have plans of getting one as well. Overall, it's just an awesome looking knife and it's one of the best purchases I've made. I would recommend anyone to by this knife. Please go check it out. IT'S AWESOME!!!
I am an ex-Army paratrooper and a former Texas lawman. I do not obsess over weapons, I merely see them as tools for a job. Defensive tactics is a bit of a hobby for me. Mainly a mental hobby but a hobby nonetheless. When I saw this knife I instantly recognized the level of force escalation options it offered. First, when closed, as a blunt force weapon. Secondly, when opened, as a short sword. After receiving and inspecting the knife I was pleased with the product. The blade release mechanism is little tough, but I expected that from other reviews I read (thank you reviewers!). I already had a plan for the tight release which was to develop a safe smooth process utilizing my closed pocket spyderco to apply force to the pressure point. Now I'm in the process of developing tactics specifically for this tool in its two configurations. PS: After inspecting the knife, I ordered two more. *I was prompted to write a review by an e-mail offering a "today only discount". I'm not making a purchase today, I just really like this "knife".
This thing is ridiculously huge, looks and feels very strange, for a folder, to be this size...but at the same time that's an advantage, it can store in a bag safely, and can be used for more demanding tasks...
This is incredible ! This folding knife is more like a folding sword . The wood matches my Timber Rattler Outlaw Bowie knife perfectly. Nice addition for tactical vest. Found out that the flashlight pocket is perfect place for this knife . I have a push T handle knife taped to D ring I got from BudK on vest also .
super neet everybody's eyes bug out when u pull it out think most of my friends are going 2 buy one
I love it, it's not high end, but it looks great, works and it just a fun piece to show or a great gift to give. Anyone will get a kick out of seeing it. And it's a great gift for any guy, trust me your boy friends will love it.
I love this knife, first opened the package I was amazed on the heaviness of the knife and the length. Reminds me of the knife that Crocidile Dundee used in the third movie I love this knife.
Budk, Kept looking at this knife wondering if it was as large as portrayed. Viewed the video and realized it was true. So I ordered one. When I received the scarab back lock blade, Boy! one big massive knife! I couldn't be more happy with this purchase. And this knife came in with a nice sharp edge. Think I'll buy another one!! THANKS! Budk, YOU ROCK!!! George M
This knife is a great item to unveil at a halftime football game,a must have for knife enthusiasts.well worth the money.
I've always wanted to get this, but I just kept dragging my feet. Finally, I said - "what the heck, get it' . . . " The price is very good, and, - the actual knife, is , - well, really big'. It's Gigantic, in a fun sorta way. Now, listen up guys,- this is for us only ; - Buy this knife'. For the sake of conversation, we are going to call it; Big Bertha * . So, Guys, get Big Bertha, and , this is what you want to do , ..... - when you get it, you want to keep it , under your bed'. I'm talking about ; between the mattress , and the box spring, on whatever side you sleep on'. You will feel So Good ** . It's hard to explain, but, take my word for it , - it is a good feeling, to know that , in the middle of the night, when you , or , if you should suddenly hear something, in your home, that you shouldn't , Big bertha is right there with you ' . Thank you folks, for listening to me ramble'.... * Shawn D. , of New York City
you feel like crocodile dundee with this thing. great priced strong reliable and just great looking.
WOW , What a knife , took it to a party the other night and asked if anyone had a pocket knife I could use a guy pulls out his little knife , I said wait I think I have mine........I took mine out of my back pocket everyone saw this , where in the heck did that come from!! :) BUDK , you have orders to fill now! They all loved it!
Had to have it. I have both my Grandfather's pocket knives, my Father's pocket knife but I didn't have one of mine that I hadn't worn out to put with the collection for my son....NOW I DO!!!! It looks Great, Feels Good, Solid and it stands out. It's not an everyday worker but for special occasions, it's just right. Thanks.
Love It! I bought 2, one for me and one for my buddy, great quality! Much better than expected! It looks huge if you have a regular sized pocket knife beside it haha The handle has a nice grain to it. Not the sharpest but I'm not planning on using it. Would buy again!
This Timber Rattler DOES. Everyone that has seen it LIKES it. Good strong lock, not overly heavy, and Good EDGE. Feels right in my large hand. As a gift, I would recommend this and watch the eyes pop.
I bought many Timber Rattlers in the past and the reaction is always fun to watch when I give them as gifts. First I ask a friend if I could use his or her pocket knife and when they say they don't have one, I present the one and only Giant Pocket knife,The Timber Rattler. Everybody Loves this knife, and so do I!!!!!!!!!!!!
I say small because I have another one I show first that's 3/4" longer, when people comment on it I say yeah it's a little big....this is my usual folder. I love the look on peoples faces when I flip the blade out. It looks big closed and would be a formidable club but when you open it up it's looks huge and it is. The quality is pretty good for a $12.99 knife and it came pretty sharp. I've already given one to a friend for Christmas and had to have one myself.
This thing is awesome!! It is quite a conversation piece, as is the other things I have ordered from you. Great products, and great prices!!
Another fantastic and inexpensive knife for my collection! I really enjoy buying these unusual knives at such a cheap price but cheap knives come with a lot of small defects. The blade is beautiful and it folds and opens smoothly. The wooden handle is sturdy but full of scratches on the one side. I found a tiny lump of hardened blue filler next to one of the stainless pins that pass the whole way through both handles and I thought it was to cover a hole in the wood. I got out a very small knife and began carving it down very slowly and discovered there wasn't a whole under it at all. Just a glob of hardened gunk I suppose they use somewhere in the manufacturing process since it is the same color as the wooden handle. This was a fantastic buy for the price! I always read the description of each item I'm interested in to determine what words are missing to cleverly hide faults. Then I read the reviews and check for any reviews on Youtube before I make a decision to buy something. I figure there is a reason why descriptions are vague. This was a good decision on my part! I recommend it! I may buy another one!
Mine came in at 17 7/8" overall - blade marked "TR99 Surical Steel" & "Pakistan". Did the cut the notebook paper by the edge and it sliced right thru smoothly. All parts tight, fit and snug. The only minor thing is it takes me both thumbs to push the rear lock release in.
At $13.00 a piece , i figured that i would order two . I mean , what the heck , what if it is a decent knife ? It is truely awesome . I feed about 30 cats a day inside and out and i use this knife to open the 18 pound bags . Just point this baby at the bag and the bag will beg and open like magic . I love this knife and will give one to my friend chad , who is welding a tray for my BBQue pit ! I really do love this knife . Paul Bunyun would be proud to have this in his pocket !
This knife is fantastic, and unlike other novelty items, this one is made to be used, not just displayed. It's locking mechanism is very tight and is truly a 17" folding fixed blade. It's also a bargain at these prices. I keep this in the car in a sheath next to my seat in case of emergencies. I love this knife.
Oh my gosh. This thing is insane! I would think this is illegal to carry in Ohio but man, this rocks. It's heavy, and gives a sweet intimidating sound when the lockback clicks. AND It's bigger than 17 and 3 fourths inches. It's 18. It came pretty sharp, but could be sharper. But hey, this is my favorite knife now and is AWESOME. And seriously...It's only 13 bucks. BUY THIS KNIFE, it will please you and makes an excellent conversation piece!! Also, the strength of the lock itself is as strong as Cold Steel lockbacks, and this Scarab is bigger than the Cold Steel Espada XL which is what I was gonna buy originally until I found this amazing pocket sword! Again, this thing is WELL WORTH the money...SUPER sweet item. I love it. Buy this knife!! :D
This is the best knife ever. Fits in your pocket, back pack or glove compartment of your car yet has the length & power when you unfold it. My daughter keeps hers in the center console of her car. Great quality. I bought 3 of these but gave them all away to family members as presents. Now its no longer available! Please bring it back I need one for me!!
This knife, and the Heartwood Scarab giant folder, open easily enough, but closing them is a different story. Some of the reviewers have this problem, but some do not. Mine are so hard to release the blade to close it that it takes two thumbs!!! I guess it's just the luck of the draw. But, when open, they are impressive and I'm all in all happy with them. Someone suggested getting a sheath. That would work. Then, I'd never have to close them!
Given the price, the amount of steel & just the sheer awesomeness of the LARGE size of this knife, wood scales, etc, I should probably give 5 stars. But there are so many scratches & nicks, I just can't. It almost seems like 2 people worked on this knife. One side is really good, shiny & flawless. The other side is ground down a lot more & has nicks & scratches all over it. It is not even close to being symmetrical, the blade or the frame. Just seems like laziness and poor handling. Now all that being said, you might think I'm not happy with this knife or would not recommend you to get one. But I am really happy with it, I love it, it's HUGE, it's inexpensive, and I would highly recommend picking one up!! The best way for me to describe is it's FUN. It makes me smile just knowing it's in my pocket. When I pull it out & open it up, it is ear to ear grin factor x10. I see that they have a similar knife in a different pattern for a few more bucks, I'll be getting that one next. If you don't have one of these, GET ONE!!! You won't regret it, even if it just a conversation piece. Thanks for this one BudK, well done!!!
pulled it out of the box.......all I could do was laugh. unhinged this beast and it would not close. so after spraying alittle WD40 in all the pivots, she started working properly. so to all those who said mine wont close. relax, its been sitting for awhile, gotta lube it up and everything comes back to life. was gonna give it away as a gag. but my girl told me to keep it, because she loves it lol
Well. Like a previous review, the jury is still out! I bought one & was perfect & bought 2 more for gifts-perfect! Went to order 2 more for gifts & they were out of stock/back-order! So in thinking maybe they manufacture (says Pakisistan) rushed on these new ones but had the same problem as mentioned in late review, I could not get one of them to close unless I held it upside down & mashed it on table edge!! Not Cool! The other wasn't as bad but still hard to close. Customer Service was Great & I elected to just send the worst ONE back for replacement. No problem there! But I received another almost with same problem. But, With working the catch pin that snaps in grove when it locks with a small file, I was able with patience to get it somewhat usable. obviously the pin is not ground down enough (a tad to long)on these new shipments! Hope they get this problem straighten out with Manufacturer as these are Great giant folders for $13 bucks! & great gifts for any Bro you might know! Perhaps the new shipments will be better! Hope this helps. Most everything I have purchased has been a fair deal overall!! (just a side note for kicks, the new item MC6253 MTECH Ballistic Spring Assist Black & Gold Titanium folder is One Heck of a nice blade for yourself or a gift also! Highly Recommend!)
Lots of smiles, love to drag out this hunk of steel, everybody gets a hoot out of this big knife. worth the money just to see the reactions of my friends, they can't believe it.
They did not spare any expense making this knife. It is incredible to see; it is more of a 2 hand sword. The pocket knife form makes this size of knife very nimble, quick, and controlled. When I got it, the scarab was way too tight and I "loosened" it. It lasted for three months before the blade came out while really loosening the lid of a paint can. Now that was a little unnerving, the blade is around the length of my forearm! Pros: Awesome Cons: Tricky Mechanism
That's not the actual word I used when I pulled this monster out of the box but it means the same thing. It is HUGE and has a very tight lockup and a comfortable overall feel. I normally go more for fixed blade knives but I had to have one of these as a conversation item...and it certainly is. I gave it a four because a few cosmetic blemishes but it functions just as it should. Very impressive.
OK, first off, this thing is HUGE! It looks cool and it seems like it's made well, but for 13 clams, what do you expect? What you get is the biggest pocket knife on the planet! And it does make for a great conversation piece. Now, the reality... When I first got mine I opened it and could not get it to close! I was scared that I would lop off a finger or two trying to get the blade to release. Finally, after pressing the release as hard as I could, the blade folded. Maybe I got a lemon? Second of all, the bolsters are stainless, but STAMPED not solid! Beware of that. So, overall, I'd say it's worth the 13 bucks because of the novelty, but don't expect any real use from it. Would I say buy one? Sure!
THe knife is too big I have four of them .I gave $9.99 apiece for two them and then bought two more from another dealer fo $ 5.00 a piece. I cannot get rid of them. I may wind up using them as Gift's this fall.
We won't be able to ship this item until we receive more stock. But don't worry, we've found a similar item that's ready to ship now.
