So I knew going in this wasn't a Ka-Bar but for the price you can't beat it. I have 2 legit Ka-bars (USSF & the Single Mark) so comparing them is easy. This is a great beater knife & has found a home in my wood cutting bag. Mine came very sharp, the handle is solid (tho I highly doubt stacked leather, more like wood with a vaneer on it) but the sheath is junk, I'm finally going to replace it with a plain Ka-Bar sheath. I've had this for YEARS & never had an issue with it. I'd say it's great for anyone looking for a great looking beater knife, just don't expect Ka-Bar quality for this price. The plus side to the sheath is that you can always take it apart & you've got a great pattern to make a good leather sheath for this or any other Ka-Bar knife.

A couple weeks ago I needed to chop down a tree so I used this knife and it's still sharp to this day. I've had it for over a year now and I could shave with it- it's that sharp... I had to sharpen it to get there, but once you do this is comparable to a KA-BAR for a fraction of the cost. Maintain it and this will be the best knife you own.

I jus can't see give this knife anything but 5***** for the price & the quality for that price, I know I was very happy with the 2 I received!!!!!
Jan 17, 2016

This knife is excellent, I carry mine with me as part of my EDC along with my pistol. You won't be disappointed. Arrived very sharp and sheath is durable enough for EDC, (every day carry) if you are wondering. All and all 5 stars, Budk is great!

I ordered one of these knives during a $10 dollar sale. I had read a lot of reviews that were very critical of these. Seemed like most of the complaints seemed to be about the bolster pins falling out. When mine arrived, everything seemed well put together and tight. Just to be on the safe side, I filled the openings in the bolster with crazy glue, till no more would soak in. It is a very nice looking knife and arrived reasonably sharp. I sharpened it up the rest of the way very quickly. I have an original Kabar knife, and this knock off looks much like it. The sheath seems sturdy enough (surprisingly so for such a low price). If it falls apart, I may replace it with a replacement Kabar sheath. All in all, it seems to be a great value for the money.

Very nice knife. I ordered two knives both very good. The blade gets razor sharp. Great knife to carry on you or to add to your collection. One of the BEST and COOLEST knives I have.
Dec 04, 2015

Very nice sheath. Better than what was expected. The knife takes a edge well. I have hit it against wood and chopped it up and it retained an edge. I mostly have used it for cutting bailer twine so i haven't really abused it like my other knives but will go in the woods and try it out some. I have not tried the stone but i did use a regular sharpener. I got it almost razor sharp. I give this five stars.

No, it's not a Ka-Bar. It's not $80+ either. I just ordered another two. I own a genuine Ka-Bar. Nice knife. So nice I don't want to abuse it. But BUDK's 1942 knife above is a solid 5 stars. I'll tell you what I received: A real leather sheath. I'm in Texas, there's cattle outside, I know leather from plastic. It smells and tastes like leather (see what I will do for you guys?). The sheath itself is well worth the price I paid for the knife. The Knife: A good knife. 420A stainless steel, full tang, standard rat tail. Handle. Stacked leather discs, epoxied/glued. SOP. The black grooves on the handle do seem to be some type of plastic. Doesn't hurt a thing. So if you'd like a Genuine Ka-Bar buy one right here on BUDK item # KB1217 for $83.99. But if you want a really good budget knife to stomp around with and abuse, buy this. I did. Twice.
Jul 25, 2015

The knife is very nice, if you don't want to spend a lot of money on an actual kabar then this is the knife for you. My only beef, is that the handle isn't leather. It's wood.

Based upon the video I made the purchase and am pleased with the quality and feel of the knife. The price is definitely good. May never use it but I believe the video was accurate in depicting it's capabilities.
Dec 08, 2014

Good knife for the money. A little difficult getting an edge on it, but it just takes a little extra care and time. Other than that, no problems as yet. I have taken it in the field with me and works very well for skinning game. I really like it.

Talk about memories! This may be a replica, but, it is just like the one I carried around in the boonies of Nam back in 1970. The Nam knife saved my bacon on numerous occasions and the one I got from Bud-K will take a place of honor in my collection. It is well made and I am extremely happy with it and will definitely be placing more orders with Bud-K. Remember, any day you wake up alive has got to be a great day.
Aug 19, 2014

The quality matches that of the KA-BAR brand, and it fits perfectly in a KA-BAR sheath. I am 100% satisfied and I am truly glad to have it!

What a value!! Got this knife for only $10 during a free shipping promo. Excellent quality knife surpassed all my expectations. Looks and feels just like a Marine Ka Bar but without the price tag. The sheath is fine; no complaints here although I'll probably never use the sharpening stone. Gonna throw one in my bug out bag and one in my home emergency kit. Sure beats the cheap survival knife that I almost bought with a hollow handle. I like that this knife has a full tang and I can batton it if needed to split wood for an emergency fire.

I was pumped when it cam in the mail. I opened the box and the knife came in ONE PIECE. The hand guard was slightly loose, NOTHING a drop of super glue didn't seal. I purchased it off onek of their free shipping emails for a WHOPPING $10 (Compared to the $79.99 KABAR). This BIG, BAD BOY ... ROCKS!
Aug 17, 2013

i purchased two of these kbar clones and the are fantastic . i tighten up the handles on them they were a little rattliy . put an edge on them ,and stuck them in a kbar sheath . you can't tell the difference (untill you take it out of the sheath) . i have a couple buddies i shoot with who covent my kbar . so i turned them onto these . they loved em . $10.00 per knife $10.00 per genuine kbar sheath . they helped me put a roof on my house . that was the most labor $40.00 ever bought ,,, so thank you budk for my new roof ... that's what i'm talkin bout .

This knife is great for the price. The handle is mostly solid, but removable if one chooses to do so. I bought this knife to modify, since I would hate to pay for a Ka-Bar and have to change it. Surprisingly great quality for the price. The but cap/pommel is pot metal instead of steel. Well worth the price, especially if you are planning on cutting down the guard, handle, or blade and don't want to invest in a more expensive knife.

The subject knife is an excellent value; however, it is not a KA-BAR. I carried a KA-BAR for several years in the 60's and still have it. While the subject knife is similar, I purchased two of them for my nephews and they are quite satisfied with them but have replaced the sheaths.

This is a decent knife. It does not have the stacked leather handle like the ones issued or the K-Bar. However, I will say this is a nice knife. I found one similar to this many years ago. This is every bit as good as you will find. I have carried a Gerber for over 20 years, will carry no other pocket knife. BUY THE KNIFE. You will not regret it.
Oct 05, 2015

i bought this knife about 2 weeks ago, and its fantastic (for the price). sharpened to razor quality in about half an hour. its size definitely turned heads and started a few good conversations. the stone it came with is good enough, but not a finishing edge stone. the knife, in short (which it is not), this is a great knife and i would buy it again. the sheath on the other hand isnt nearly as good as it is description says. ive brought it into the field and woods more than a few times, and the "durable leather" has ripped just below the hilt, and the strap that holds the knife in place is almost to short, and the fastener ripped out of the belt loop. i would give this knife a 4.5 rating, i like that it comes with a decent stone, but the sheath is weaker than advertised, so overall its a 4.

Dec 19, 2014

Ordered two of these and both had loose handles and the pin fell out of one and the handle came off. I pushed the point into a block of wood to put the handle back in place and insert the pin. Used a whole bottle of Crazy Glue on all the loose places to tighten them up. They seem to be holding together OK and I consider them good to use. I checked the blades with some instant blue and it didn't do anything, proving to myself that they are stainless as advertised. I recommend these if you don't mind the hassle of super gluing the handles and guards.
Dec 11, 2014

I purchased one for my son and one for myself. They are very well made with quality material. It can be used or displayed. You will not find a better knife for the price. Excellent buy.
Dec 07, 2014

I've been looking at Ka-Bars for a while but the price was prohibitive for no more than I use a large blade. This knife was perfect in all respects. Good heft, has a beefy feel and appearance. Appears to be made solidly made--great knife for the price! I was disappointed with the sheath, I am not a fan of the so-called faux leather sheaths. Give this knife a leather sheath and this becomes a first-class knife for field use!
Dec 02, 2014

For the price, it was a good deal. It's not a K-Bar. It took time to get a good edge on it. The pummel fell out and I needed to fix it. The stone is a bit to coarse. It feels good and everything has been taken care of. If I lose it in the field, I'm not out a ton of money.
Dec 01, 2014

I wanted a new knife to set next to the one my dad carried in WW2 and this knife does the job well. Excellent price.
Sep 22, 2014

I've been lookin for a knife like under $80 bucks for a while. I am seriously satisfied though the hand guard is a little wobbly and the sheath is a tad lackin. but overall it is a very good knife that easy to wield and use.
Aug 04, 2014

K-bars is the standard to be compared to but some of us can't afford the "real deal". As a second choice this will work fine. I have read other reviews that did not like this knife but mine was all that I expected it to be. I wish that they will put the knife out with a Tanto type tip in the future.
Apr 07, 2014

Not a Ka-Bar. It is a replica. Mine came solid. It was nice and sharp. The sheath is fair and comes with a sharpening stone. For most simple chores I have used it for, it does well.
Dec 04, 2013

As an inactive Marine, I wanted a K-bar for my collection. This 1942 edtion was a good find for $13.00. Not as good as my military issued K-bar but I'm satisfied with my purchase.
Aug 08, 2013

If you are really going to use and abuse this knife it might not hold up well but for the money, who cares. Great reproduction at a real affordable price.
Jul 09, 2013

Not a bad knife at all! The sheath is black vinyl, though, and actually had a bit of mildew on it. Two minutes of alcohol cleaned it up nice but it's getting tossed anyway. The knife is decent enough to make a decent sheath for it. The stone, keep it for your hatchet. It's too coarse for a knife.
Jul 06, 2013

I'm very happy with this knife(i got it in the combo with the marine tanto machete), but today i encountered a problem with the end carp and am currently tightening it up again with a strong adhesive. hopefully it works. Good knife.
Jan 04, 2013

I got this knife almost 6 months ago I liked it once i saw it. I always wanted a ka-bar because alot of my friends and family were in the service. When i first got it it had a really good edge on it and then I thought the sheath was good. After a while the sheath snap broke but my friend showed me how to fold the belt loop with some paracord and the sheath tore after that but i used some black tape. Great knife all in all though love it thanks.
Nov 11, 2012

I've been wanting a Kabar for long time but just never had the extra money to afford one. When I saw this on sale 2 for $20 I couldn't pass it up. Overall I'm happy with it, the knife itself seems pretty well made & had a nice edge right outta the box. The shealth (as always with inexpensive knives) is on the cheap side but does appear that it will hold up for a while. One negative for the shealth was that the strap holding the knife was too small, it wouldn't fit around the handle but once I got it snapped I just let it be for a couple days & I have no problems at all now. Definitely glad I bought this knife (knives) because for the price it can't be beat & I'm sure whoever gets the other for Christmas will be pretty happy as well. If you're looking for a decent knife at a great price I don't think you'll be disappointed as long as you know it's not a Kabar, it's just a nice knife at a better price.
Nov 13, 2015

The blade came to me in pretty good condition, with a moderately sharp edge. I sharpened it up to paper cutting then tried it out. Cheap stainless steel has nothing on the 1095 high carbon steel that ka-bar uses but it's still okay. As to how long the blade will last id have to say that largely depends on how hard you are on it. It won't last a lifetime. It won't last a month of good use, but it's a decent cheapo knife that you can just throw somewhere for an emergency and forget about it
Sep 02, 2014

This knife is a good deal for the money. The blade seems sturdy and it took a good edge. I did have to replace the pin that holds the pommel on with a screw since it fell out almost immediately upon opening the package. It's totally worth the $10 that I paid for it, but I'll def save up and get a real Ka-Bar.
Mar 22, 2014

This is a piece of crap I got it and used it around the house and the snow is completely gone today so I took it outside and went to stick it in a tree and the handle and blade completely separated.
Sep 29, 2013

I acquired this replica for the sole purpose of using the stacked leather handle parts to restore my late U.S. Marine uncle's WW II KaBar kife. His knife's handle rotted due to outdoor storage for many years. Upon taking it apart I found that all of the 'black' parts of the 'stacked leather handle' are in fact a plastic material. As such, my project has hit a brick wall.
Feb 08, 2013

I was excited when i saw this cause i have an original one of these that was my grandfathers. But it was in bad shape. So i saw this one for cheap figured id pick it up. Overall the blade seems strong. But the handle and sheath are garbage. The end cap was loose when i got it. The sheath is poorly made and the snap to hold the knife in place was way too small. I tried to stretch it to get it to fit and it snapped right in half. If you want a nice display piece get this. If you want a knife to actually use spend the money and get something else.
Jul 25, 2014

Looks good until i picked it up out of box pommel pin was missing. pommel had been glued back on slight tug it popped off blade has been touched up with non matching gloss black paint in several spots. cheap knife i know but a handle glued on and then shipped out to customer! i gave more than most paid over $20.00 with shipping. Not Good!
Mar 12, 2014

Although this is called a replica, it truly is nothing like my original Ka-Bar from 1942. The blade is as cheap as they get,the handle is plastic and the sheath is not leather! Nothing is as promised. This may be ok for a kid for five bucks but don't think this "stainless steel blade" won't rust. The edge on the blade is not sharp and won't cut cardboard. Hope you read this before you buy.
Dec 18, 2013

Sheath is not leather as advertised. It is plasticized foam. First time I put knife in sheath, the blade cut the sheath and ruined it. The pommel is soft plastic and was loose. It may look good, but is useless as a real knife that will be used in the real world. Either charge more for it and improve the quality, or do not advertise it being something it is not!
Nov 02, 2013

Replica my a**! I was pumped when it came in the mail. I opened the box and the knife came out in FOUR PIECES. The pommel wasn't even attached to the knife. The pin that is to attach the pommel and "PLASTIC" spacer was too small to retain them. I purchased it off one of their free shipping emails for $10. The Blade is great! The handle not so much. The description states " dependability that Marines rely upon." NOT. Oh and also" Includes a black leather sheath" No it does not include a black LEATHER sheath. The sheath is a bonded vinyl and foam. NOT ONE PIECE IS LEATHER in it's construction. Yes I understand I purchased an inexpensive knife. But it isn't a replica exact copy or reproduction. I would ask for a refund however it would cost $10 just to return it. Live and learn. Do one thing if you buy anything from Budk pay the DOLLAR for the insurance. They sell the Insurance because the know that they will be having to reship some of what you purchase.
