So in my youth I use to be a Magician, Now much older and a father of 4 I find myslef looking for new activities to connect with my children. One year as a gift a friend bought me this set to see if I had any Magic'esk skills in my old age..after fooling around with the kit for about 15 min. my 8yr old son walks over and asks if he can try to open a lock..long story short kid opened the lock in under 5 min. now he's under 1 min., it was and continues to be a great gift and activity to get the dexterity moving and spend.

Great tool. First ever shot I unlocked my house (schlage) in about 35 seconds. Second time took me 5 minutes. It's about feel and technique. I have unlocked BEST deadbolt 7 pin from store front when our reception desk was delivered and owner wasn't there with key to unlock side door (only way it would fit and had permission) As for them being flimsy, the tensioner is for tension only. You will bend if you don't know what you are doing. I am a commercial finish carpenter who does a lot of door hardware and will stock up when it goes on sale (bogo).

Great product and great price. If you know the basic concept of picking, this product is all you need.
Apr 19, 2015

Very nice set for the price. Easily kept in wallet with all needed to open most locks.
Apr 19, 2015

Had my eye on this little set after some reading about lock picking as a Prepper skill. Jumped on it when it went on sale as a start for bigger and better things- like EZ decoder sticks and cracking Master lock combos! All in good fun, of course.
Dec 30, 2014

I received this for Christmas, and tried it on 3 padlocks that I had no keys for. After playing around with it for about a half hour my first padlock unlocked. The other two came unlocked in about three minutes.I would say for the price this is a great product. The more you practice ,the easier it is.

If you want something that's easy to carry with you all the time and works, these are well worth the money. I when down to the lake with my father-in-law and a friend to do some work at my in-laws house. About half way there my father in-law realized he left the key at home. It was too far to go back so he resigned himself to the fact that he would just use a crowbar on the door and pry it open. They were both surprised when I pulled this little kit out of my wallet and had the door open in about 20 seconds. I had just received this in the mail that day. It's already paid for itself. I have other pick sets, but this one you can carry in you wallet 24/7 and that makes all the difference. The best pick set in the world will do you no good if you don't have it when you need it.

Fits right in my wallet, works like a charm every time! I have zero experience picking locks and I was through the deadbolt on my front door in 2 minutes on my very first try.
Jun 25, 2014

This is a nice little beginners set. Don't bother with the manual. Just go to YouTube and see how it's done. I got my deadbolt open in a few minutes. Guys on the Internet can do it in a few seconds because they use thicker metal sets. I'm going to get one of the better sets they have here.

May 21, 2014

These are great. A little uncomfortable in the hand, admittedly, but they do their job very well- gets through most locks I've tested them on in
May 16, 2014

This is a must have for someone that is a beginner locksmith. Great price, great quality. I bought 2! The book is a good tool for learning, picks are metal, they are a starter set to lockpicking 1 hook pick 1 torsion wrench 1 half diamond pick 1 rake pick 1 small jiggler pick. The book covers using the picks on different types of locks, and also teaches you to use a shim for padlocks and other entry methods along with a brief history of locks and lockpicking.
May 02, 2014

Great lock pick set - build quality and size is just right! The price is INCREDIBLE for what you get! Would buy again in a heartbeat! THANKS BUDK!
Apr 25, 2014

I bought this set for my son. He loves the set! It is a great product for a fantastic price. Shipping however was entirely too high for product.
Mar 18, 2014

This is the firat set iv pick iv ever owned and since i have purchased 2 more of the same set as well as various other kits from other places. And i must say that for many lock i find myself resorting back to my redit card picks, it seems like their the only ones made to pick a real lock white most of the others are by far to large
Feb 23, 2014

i was so amazed that i could pick a lock with no practice and i only spent 10. in 10 minutes i was picking a lock with no practice or reading the book it came with- but that's where the disturbing part came, all people have to do is go on this website and spend 10 dollars and then they can get in any house they want.
Dec 14, 2013

This was the first pick set I ever owned, and I have bought many more expensive sets since. This set is by far my favorite overall since I can stick it in my wallet. Upon receiving the set, I promptly picked ever door lock, padlock, and vehicle lock at my house. I did have to resort to online videos for a bit more instruction before reaching this level of ability , as the book is a little light on information. Couldn't ask for much more for the price. I highly recommend this item!
Nov 27, 2013

i was able to pick several locks around my house using only the L rake and the torsion wrench. they are a bit skinny and hard to handle if you have larger hands but the up side is you can keep this set in your wallet. if you get locked out of your car or you just want to show off to your friends its a cool little set to carry. you never know when you might need it ;)
Oct 14, 2013

I got this along with the "Secure Pro X5 Eleven Piece lock pick set" I was satisfied with it. But I dropped it outside one day and now I only have the rake pick, and one other, so I combined the sets together to use the tension tools and smaller size picks and the rake pick together. I was not disappointed. Someone in an apartment complex where my dad works had moved out and left a locked filing cabinet. My dad called me over to get it open and after about 5 minutes it popped. There was a 100$ watch in there. I have picked numerous doors and just general locks for fun and for people that have locked themselves out. Nice job BudK
Aug 20, 2013

Great product highly valued Web site loved the product supplied and will do business with budk again I just wish I would sprang for the bigger set
Aug 14, 2013

great product, messed around with homemade picks on locks, this set is convenient, althouth small it does the job, had me picking my door locks with a little practice, ordered another set to have a spare,it's fun to pick and surprise friend's how easy it is to do. thank's again.
Jul 14, 2013

i had expected them to be a bit on the flimsy side. but, these honestly are not that bad. the lightest bit of pressure on the torsion bar is all you need, half the time i press so lightly i don't even notice when it unlocks and it usually takes me around ten seconds on most master lock padlocks. if you have problems with bending these picks try using a softer touch. over all, this pick set was way worth the ten dollars and i would highly recommend it as a great starter set whether your just a curious buyer or someone with serious professional intent!
Jun 28, 2013

I got my picks in today and skimmed through the booklet. Within minutes I unlocked my front door. The picks are thin like some people have said but thats how they fit in a credit card style carrier. They seem plenty strong enough to use for a long time. Next I have to try my auto jigglers.
Jun 13, 2013

Work very well for a cheaper starter set. Will defiantly get the job done. Had to help a locked out neighbor, I got her in her home in less then a minute.
Jun 11, 2013

The booklet is mostly useless historical info. Lock picking is a skill set that takes time to learn and practice to keep up. The picks are ok steel with some sharp spots that came right off with a fine file. Overall, I am happy with this purchase and would buy again.
May 04, 2013

Apr 10, 2013

I've been a locksmith for many years, and don't always have my toolbox with me, this set fits in my wallet just fine!
Apr 05, 2013

This is my first lock picks.works great. It's just a little small for my big hands. But I love how it fits in my wallet.going to get the other ones that are bigger and won't hurt my fingers
Mar 27, 2013

Bought it as a hobby, got a box full of old locks that I wanted to try my skill at. The set worked. Took me a while to get it right, but the pick set worked good. The manual that comes with it gives you a good history on locks and gets you started, but research on your own. It will help your technique.
Mar 19, 2013

Works great on cheap locks, it can be hard to pick them up if you drop them. they also fit in my wallet really well, after a while you don't even notice that they are in there.
Mar 14, 2013

This was my first pick set and I am very impressed with how well it handles. While the metal is a little on the thin side and can bend kind of easily, that thinness allows a lot of feedback to be transferred from the pins. The tension tool is a little more rigid, which works well for applying varying levels of torque to the cylinder. I keep this in my wallet at all times, though I had to forfeit a couple of cards to make room. Took advantage of the recent BOGO sale to pick up a couple replacement sets! I've used this set to open my household doors, both key-in-knob and deadbolts, a lockbox at work (go figure - they lost the key to the box with all the keys!), various padlocks and some filing cabinets. My best advice to those just starting out, get your hands on some cheap locks to practice on. Take them apart and learn how to re-pin the locks, then practice some more. The more you understand the inner workings, the easier it is to understand the feedback you receive through the picks.
Feb 26, 2013

These are by far some of the best tools I've owned. I carry them in my wallet at all times (the case is about the thickness of 2-3 credit cards). While the tools are quite thin, they are also quite strong. I have had my set for several months now. The tools have opened dozens of locks and have held up fine, no bends or breaks. *note* If you break a set of picks, you're doing it wrong. :) I've even opened high dollar padlocks at work (with permission) that feature pick resistant pins (spools I suspect) and pick resistant key-ways, both of which made it difficult. I got them opened in roughly 15 minutes my first try, maybe 5-6 minutes my 2nd try. My boss was shocked that I was able to open a near $200 padlock with a $10 set of tools. I've also been able to help out several friends who locked themselves out of their homes. I'm so pleased with them that I ordered another 2 sets with BK's buy 1 get 1 free special. Like many have said, the booklet that comes with them is fire-fuel. If you're a beginner, get yourself the book Practical Lock Picking by Deviant Ollam, great information for people well in the trade as well. Why are you still reading this? Buy these!
Feb 25, 2013

I was given this as a gift from my girlfriend because I had been talking about buying a fourty dollar professional pick set to get aquainted with. With no prior experience, aside from reading online, I have become very proficient in picking the tumbler door in my computer room. That door is the entrance to my gun room, which is disheartening, but the second lock is pretty hard to pick. The manual was no help at all. The only thing in there is a diagram of what a tumbler lock is. Yay. Pretty useless, but it looks neat, I'll give it that. This is a very nice tool set to have stowed away in your wallet for many situations that can arise. By having it on me at all times, I can practice picking whenever I want to. I still have yet to pick a wafer lock open, but give it time. If you're a beginer, I highly approve of you buying this set first to get used to what picking is like. If you've found your new favorite hobby, consider buying a plastic practice tumbler lock so you can get a better idea of what you're doing. Then consider buying a more pricey and impressive lock pick set. All in all, I'm very impressed with the quality of this set. I'm also disturbed that the door inside my house can be picked with a ten dollar tool set and no experience whatsoever. Huh.
Feb 13, 2013

I learned on this set and carry one in my wallet every where I go. Yes they are a bit thin but they are cheap and you can carry them anywhere. I have locked myself out of my apartment on two occasions and used this set to get back in both times. I would recommend this to anyone.
Feb 06, 2013

Great product, works great i picked up 2, already recommended it to a couple of my friends.
Nov 28, 2012

Nice set of tools. Will work on door locks and smaller padlocks. Because of the size of the kit and case, the torsion bar is also small. Won't work well on larger locks with a deep offset to the plug. But, for what it is, it is not bad at all.
Nov 21, 2012

I wouldn't say the pieces are flimsy but they are very THIN (it is supposed to fit in a wallet after all...) took me about 10 minutes to get framiliar with the set with no previous experiance picking locks, after the first few times taking a few minutes I was able to pick my front door in about 15-30 seconds on a pretty regular basis with the rake. I'm actually kinda disturbed by how easy it is for someone with no skill and a $10 set of lock picks to get into my house. Guess its time to head over to home depot and see about getting a better front door lock... I wonder if they'll let me try to pick their display locks... lol
Oct 03, 2012

Great set. Takes longer to get the picks out than pick the lock. If these are too flimsy for you, you're doing it wrong!
Sep 21, 2012

My first attempt ever at using a lock pick was with this kit and it worked like a charm. A little flimsy as others had stated but for the price it can't be beat.
Sep 19, 2012

I love it, very small and easy to use. and wally3827, about 95% of everyone's front door is a tumbler lock, this set is made for opening tumbler locks..great product!
Jun 23, 2012

Yes these are kinda flimsy but they are definitely worth the money I paid for them. I have only had this set a day and have been able to open many door locks and padlocks. This is a cool kit for beginners who would like to try out a cheap pair of picks before they buy a more expensive set.
Jun 23, 2012

this product is awesome! it easily conceals in my wallet and nobody will ever see it! I've already snuck into my brothers room multiple times and in just seconds!
May 19, 2012

For the price you pay i would say this is a great purchase. I bought the kit and at first glance i thought it wouldn't work but i tested it out on one of the doors and it works great. The picks are surprisingly durable and the whole kit fits right in a sleeve of your wallet. Long story short awesome buy.
May 14, 2012

I just got this sword. With the door open, but locked, it only took me 20 seconds to pick, and with it closed and locked, about a minute.
Apr 26, 2012

I was easily able to pick cheap door locks, but my front door schlage locks weren't that easy to pick.
Apr 12, 2012

Is what it is and what it is, is great... small and functional.
Apr 02, 2012

Great works good quality but look at the other comments they all say they picked their front door but is that a good thing that anyone can break into your house.
Mar 29, 2012

What a great little set of picks, where do I begin!? Firstly, it really does fit very well in my bi-fold wallet which has a little compartment behind the credit card slots that the pick set slides easily behind, and is hidden from view when the wallet is opened. It doesn't make the wallet feel thick or bulky either. Next, the picks included in these set are nearly all you will ever need for every-day locks you will encounter (padlocks, door locks, deadbolts, etc). It comes with a half diamond pick, a hook pick, a snake rake, and a long rake. With minimal practice I was able to pick a $70 padlock that featured a pick resistant keyway as well as pick resistant pins (I'm assuming spool or mushroom driver pins). This little set is worth every penny!
Mar 24, 2012

The guide was really useful and worked with the lock-picking set. Did have some tension strength problems but i tempered them and fixed it. Thanks!!!
Mar 19, 2012

This is a great set, I just opened it today, and have refused to set it down. The manual is not perfect, but may help understand locks, and how they work. It is a great set for beginners, especally for the amazingly low price! BUY THIS NOW!!!
Feb 21, 2012

Amazing quality I had figured these were going to be cheap but they actually hold up nice! And for the price they are an amazing deal, now knowing what these are and how good they work I would have payed more! Amazing quality!!! The best thing is THEY WORK!
Feb 18, 2012

I received the set yesterday and it worked great as soon as I got it. I pick locked my front door, its really easy. I would recommend this to anyone.
Jan 06, 2012

I ordered this set because I was interested in learning the skill, but didn't want to put to much $ into it if I couldn't figure it out. To my wife's dismay, I had both the front door and dead bolt open in less than 10 minutes on the first try. Contrary to other reviewers, my set did not bend and worked flawlessly. However, like any tool, they will preform best with patience and practice. After all, the first time I swung a hammer and missed the nail, it wasn't the hammer's fault.
Dec 10, 2011

I received the lock pick and started using it right away, great set would recommend to anyone and it fits in my wallet.
Jun 06, 2011

I PLAYED WITH A MASTER LOCK FOR LIKE TEN SECOND AND OPENED IT!!! REALLY GOOD, DON'T HESITATE, BUY IT TODAY!
May 09, 2011

I was a bit skeptical at first, but thought I'd give these picks a shot since they were so cheap. The picks feel a little thin in your hand, but when I tried them out on my front door, I actually picked the lock on the first try within about 10 seconds. Then I had to try a few more times to make sure it wasn't just luck and got it every time. Excellent product and apparently I need a more secure front door lock if someone can buy $10 lockpicks and get it on their first attempt.
May 05, 2011

its as it says credit card sized mabey two cards thick but the tools are much sturdier than they are thin lol and the guide is very informative on history, theory and use of the equipment i cant wait to increase my lockpick skill from amateur using bobbypins and paper clips to journeyman using the tools of the trade lol
Apr 29, 2011

I was skeptical about this product and my ability to use it at first, but after opening it, i was able to open the deadbolt to my front door in about 45 seconds (without any previous experience) using the raking tool. I have not tried any other tools or even opened the book, but am very pleased with the quality. This is staying in my wallet at all times! Best price on the web by far!
Apr 11, 2011

This lockpick kit is so easy to use. I picked a padlock using it on my first try ever after watching a youtube video. The guide is packed with tons of useful information as well. I give it an A+++.
Jun 19, 2015

Very good set for beginners. Extremely difficult to pick locks with security pins, and damn near impossible for locks with double sided tumblers (both of which are used in most locks on houses, businesses, etc.). This set can open smaller things, such as small safe locks, cabinet locks, and big padlocks. Used it to teach my girlfriend the basics. If you're SOL and locked out of somewhere, you're probably going to need a better set, but, like I said, it's good for learning basics.
Apr 29, 2015

Apr 26, 2015

Although these aren't premium materials, this little wallet set is ultra handy and light. It is practical and worth the purchase. Grab yourself a couple today, you won't be sorry!!! Padlocks beware!!!!!
Mar 25, 2015

great item the metal is thin and bends very easily but if you are careful with them they can open most pad locks with a little practice as for door locks any one who says these do that i would question i have had mine for over a year and have never been able to open a single house lock lots of pad locks laying around the house but no door locks tried to watch some on youtube but was sadden to see some where faked you seen the door unlocked by the set but after watching closer they unlocked it from the inside again this is a great set but not for house locks now there are some on here that work for that i know i have them but this is not one of them over a year and no luck with this set about 2 weeks using the 13 buck set and i opened my first door lock but it is better suited for that than these are but for pad locks i highly recommend these
Dec 24, 2014

These lock picks are more solid than I thought they would be considering their price. I love the neat little case they come in. I have not really tried to seriously unlock a door yet but played around with the deadbolt on my office door and could feel the pins in it moving. I do wish that it came with better instructions. The instructions are the only thing that keep it from a 5 star rating.
Dec 21, 2014

Obviously wont match up to a professional set, but it can pick pretty simple or weak locks. Tension wrench will bend eventually.
Sep 26, 2014

These are picks are good for the money I spent on them. I used them on my front door and several locks for practice , they do work but bend out of shape if you are to ruff with them, however, they bend back in shape with almost no effort at all. They fit in my wallet perfect good tool to have just in case.
Aug 28, 2014

First set bought and so far works well on pad locks and other basic locks. I have not got a door knob unlocked yet. Be careful with tension wrench can bend if applying to much pressure. Book is very limited help. The casing holds the tools loosely but can be fixed with tape.
Aug 21, 2014

Not so bad, not obviously not a professional lock pick set. I've picked basic locks with it, but you have to be careful because the picks themselves are very thin and can break easily.
Aug 18, 2014

This is a nice little set for the money. If you have a little experience, or time to practice, this set will do you for occasional jobs. They are stamped metal, tho, so if you are looking to pick locks on a daily basis, tho, I would go with a better set. Perfect for the beginner, or the experienced amateur, tho!
Jul 30, 2014

I got this on the off chance I may need it some time. Well it sat in a drawer for a while, then my stepdaughter lost the key to her moneybox. We were about to take a vacation and she wanted her money for whatever. So I pulled it out and within 5 minutes had the lock open. I had never used a lock pick set before, and it worked for me. She later found the key and the lock still works fine.
Jun 25, 2014

This product was perfect for me as a beginner. Hopefully I get better with practice. With these at such a cheap price, there's no need to freak out if one gets a little crooked.
Jun 21, 2014

Its a great first set for a beginner, and with the low cost its not a big deal if you break or bend one. I didn't give it a 5 because the book is pretty useless but over all its still a good buy.
Apr 07, 2014

I am a locksmith and am always in need of a few picks when I don't have a tool box handy. This is a great little set and is convenient to carry.
Feb 16, 2014

Not a bad starter kit for picking locks. I had a master lock on a tool box and lost the key. It took about 45 minutes to get the hang of it but I was able to open the lock and did not have to cut the lock hasp. Not bad - there is a bit of a learning curve and patience required....
Dec 20, 2013

great little set and works great but is a little unconfortable because of the handles
Dec 13, 2013

Nice little set works pretty good on most locks and easy to carry around. Torson wrench could use some attention just because its a little flimsy but does the job.
Oct 21, 2013

It's great but you have to be easy on the picks. They get the job done and are great for beginners. They are good but you should get a better pair soon because they do bend easily if your not careful.
Oct 18, 2013

All I can say about this set is... WOW! Seriously, for less than 10 bucks you get a REAL pick set. Not one of those crappy paper thin wannabe sets. Within the first ten minutes of inspecting this set, I opened a lock with ease. This is a basic set so if there is a complex lock you need to open, this set will not be enough. As for a practice set this is invaluable! if you can use this set to open a lock then when you get the locksmith grade sets you will be a lock-star!
Sep 23, 2013

Sep 14, 2013

when I got these I thought they were really thin did not feel right but they get the job done and fast delivery thank you
Jul 26, 2013

I bought this set and have used it quite a bit. The trick is to not be disappointed with how long it takes to pick a lock. This set will get the job done, but it takes some practice to learn to use the picks. So far, I have used these to pick padlocks and door locks on houses. With a little patience, the set works fine! The only think that I feel is a little lacking is the thickness of the tension tool. You will probably over-do the pressure on it in the beginning and end up bending it if you are not careful. Some locks are stiff too and that makes it hard on the tension tool. Occasionally a little lubricant can help with that, but it would be nice if the tension tool was a little better quality. Overall, I would recommend this set to anyone who wants to learn to pick--on the condition you practice a lot. This set can save you a lot of money on locksmiths and broken windows, but only if you know how to use it!
Jul 03, 2013

I really liked this lock pick set. It works wonders when I get locked out of somewhere or if I just want to have a go at a new lock. It's simple and elegant. I did not like to booklet to much though. There was no real demonstration or diagram of how to really pick a lock. More just information about locks. Otherwise it's a very good choice for a beginner lock picker.
Jun 16, 2013

Jun 07, 2013

Got the set today, better than i expected, id advise sanding the picks a little. aside from that its awesome, book lacks in depth info but more than enough if you ever get locked out of your house I'm deeply satisfied with budk right now lol
May 15, 2013

I was amazed at how simple picking locks really is. As soon as I got these in the mail I had my front door locked and started work. I had both the knob and deadbolt open in minutes. They are small and my hands cramp bad so I had an issue with using them for any amount of time but after some practice it only takes a minute or two to open most locks. Great product Bud K.
May 02, 2013

Got the wild idea one day that I wanted to learn to pick locks. thought it would be a fun and useful skill. When I saw this set I decided it was perfect. I love the idea that I will always have these picks with me wherever I go. Price is great. The book was pretty much useless but I quickly learned everything I needed to know about lockpicking on Youtube. Only complaint is after extended use, the small handle begins to cramp your hands and cut into them. But that is the sacrifice you make to have it fit in your wallet. Looking around now for a good home set with comfy grips but I will always carry this set with me in case friends or family gets locked out.
Mar 28, 2013

Tricky to learn and you will need alot of practice. but with time and patience its a great investment
Mar 27, 2013

These are a good buy for the price. The quality is not great, not terrible, but pretty alright. The manual is a brief primer and you would be well served by a little independent research. Other than that, no complaints.
Mar 17, 2013

Works decent with lower end locks an deadbolts, other than that they tend to bend a little, but for price and size, good deal.
Mar 14, 2013

my hands cramp up while using them pretty quickly due to their small size but they work. They stow away in the smallest pocket of my B.O.B. and that is what I wanted them for.
Feb 27, 2013

Good product for the price. It is small as advertised and does fit in your wallet like a credit card.

Nice little kit. Nothing to fancy and snazzy, but i'll get the job done on most basic locks and fits in a wallet.
Jan 30, 2013

The set was good but the manual was no help at all. i had to look up how to use it. Overall, the set was good, but don't bother with the manual.
Jul 26, 2012

Quality little tools but the case is flimsily and doesn't really stay in box. Good for 10$ book is also very complicated for a beginner
Jun 30, 2012

good little set for an emergency but the tools are flimsy and for beginners you can only pick cheap locks using the rake pick(method explained in included book) I'm sure with practice you could learn to pick all locks with included tools

This set is pretty good... As a beginner to lock picking I found it very easy to pick up, starting with the rake methods and then working my way up to the more delicate single pin methods... It helps if you watch a couple videos on how to do it... Only problem is that my torsion wrench bent a little bit after a while... Still good for a beginning set...
Feb 29, 2012

I really like this item. The only problem I had is that one of the pieces of the lock pick set was bent.

This is a good set real easy for beginners. It's a little flimsy, but with some TLC it is great.
Sep 06, 2011

Excellent set that is very portable. Some of the reviews say they bend but I have used them several times with no bending....I guess some people don't know how little pressure is needed to pick a lock. Either way they fit handily in my wallet and any wallet with multiple card slots. Gave 4 stars because, I think, for the little amount of material that they are made of, the price should be a couple bucks cheaper.
Jun 22, 2011

Overall this is a pretty good product. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to start learning about lockpicking, it is a cheap and simple set with the essentials.
May 14, 2011

this set arrived promptly but are easily bent and the manual did not aid in my picking in the slightest

PICKS REALLY WORK PICKED MY BEDROOM DOOR FIRST TRY IN SECONDS AND MY GUMBALL MACHINE WITH A BROKEN KEY GREAT DEAL!! THE BOOK HOWEVER COULDNT BE MORE VAGUE ALMOST USELESS. BUT OVER ALL IM HAPPY THEYLL BE GREAT FOR PRACTICING.
Apr 30, 2011

This set is amazing! It is about the same size as a credit card (thickness is about two credit cards thick), and it fits in my wallet very well. I've opened a few locks with these so they are very good. very good metal, at first I thought they would be to flimsy to actually open anything but they work like a charm, even on deadbolts. best lockpick I've bought.
Mar 17, 2015

While it is discrete, the metal is quite flimsy and does not provide an easy unlock. When i was useing it I felt like every single time I put pressure on it, it was going to break. Good for the price. Could be user error.
Sep 23, 2013

The item is good, just not enough information as to how to use it. I guess you have to guess or know someone who does.
Jun 30, 2013

the set is really good...the picks are really thin but they wont bend easily...the only problem was the book, it had good knowledge on lock picks and the history behind it but it didn't really tell how to pick locks
Apr 30, 2013

Good set for the price. A little flimsy, and I had to file off some jagged burrs. They work, used a couple of times and they have been in my wallet ever since.
Apr 24, 2013

This is an ok set. As one review said, they are thin and do bend easy. They are small and hard to handle too. I was able to pick a brand new Master lock in seconds using the Raking method as this is the only method described in the booklet. The booklet itself was useless, other than explaining different locks, it does not explain how to use each pic or what pic to use for different locks. I will be looking into spending a bit more money on a better set and save this set for emergencies.
Apr 02, 2013

Been using mine for practice. I have always picked locks with a paper clip, this is just a bit easier. My biggest problem with this set is its hard to grip onto, and I do not have large hands (medium mechanixwear gloves lol). However it does fit in the wallet, and DOES work. I recommend at least owning a set for cases where you lock your keys in your car. (I only seem to do it outside my home, this way I can get in my house and grab the extra car key) I am going to buy another set, but as I said, it needs to be a bit thicker and some nice grooves in the metal wouldn't hurt for extra grip. It's just too easy to bend them.
Feb 28, 2013

This product will work for people that know how to use a pickset allready. For those people it is a good back up kit. The steel is cheap and lacks the spring of a good set. As a backup it is fine as a first set I wouldn't recommend it.
Nov 27, 2012

they good and bad the good is that they work and the size it perfect to put in your wallet and they take up little to no space and the bad part it that you need to no how to pick a lock or you will bend them... i no how to use them so they dont bend to much for me but then are thin so be carefull... but over all i like them.

I just received this product today and I'm not completely satisfied with it. Shipping was nice and fast, I will say.
Feb 12, 2012

The pick set is OK, but I like to rake to get locks open and it gives my fingers blisters because the picks are very small. Other than that it is a great pick set.
Nov 22, 2011

The lock pick instructions did not help me at all to pick locks. I've tried on my front door, back door, a master lock, and a door at work. I can't seem to pick any of them. I bought this based on the instruction book with it, and it wasn't enough. On a positive note; I love the size and how it fits in my wallet
Oct 23, 2011

I was skeptical about these picks to begin with since the price was so low. I've used my uncles picks before which are a very pricy set and figured it was time to get my own to play around with. The torsion wrench bends easily on the thinner longer side and the shorter fatter side is too big to fit into a lock properly. The picks work alright if you're a beginner, but you won't be picking many house locks with the tools provided and you definitely won't be picking any deadbolts or car locks since the wrench can't hold up to the pressure needed to do those. Mine bent on a Masterlock chain lock that I had laying around the house... Overall it would be a good beginners kit and may come in handy one day. If I were to do it over I'd spring for the pro lock kits that are only about $30.
Sep 04, 2011

The guide only has a few very brief diagrams on how to do actual lock picking, not enough to actually start honestly, you're better off looking at youtube instructional videos, as for the set itself, the picks seem easily bendable so be careful but since they're the picks it shouldn't be bent in the first place, as for the torsion wrench I do have to say it is a bit tougher than the picks, and it held up good with my first trial the "credit card" or case seems like it would hold up in your wallet with you sitting on it or not, fits in most pockets hell even fits in the picture holders, has two "rugged" spots on the back to allow easy opening which I like.
Aug 30, 2011

First off, I was extremely surprised with the sturdiness of these picks. I expected them to be very weak, but they hold up well.
The size of the case is actually the same as a credit card, but just slightly thicker.
The book explains just enough to get a beginner started.
The case is well made, however, if pressure is put on the top of the case it will pop open.
The picks themselves were slightly shorter than I had expected, I find it a little difficult to "feel" the pins with them, and they aren't too comfortable when picking pin-tumbler locks using them, however, I suppose I should have epected that when reading that the set fits in a case around the size of a credit card.
For $10, it's a decent pick set. Personally, I liked the SouthOrd jack-knife set a lot more. (I'd bet that's just because I'm more used to it than I am these new picks.)
All in all, for $10, it's not bad.
I'm still surprised of these little picks' strength.
May 18, 2011

the picks themselves are alot sturdier than i thought they would be...the case however is the opposite...if it bends inwards it will open...all in all....you get what you pay for
May 06, 2011

these are good but not the best. one of the picks bent when i was picking one of my locks and the case does not fit in my wallet but they work so i'm happy
Feb 14, 2014

this item is great but when i went to tun one of the picks to unlock the door it bent and now i cant use that pick but overall great buy
Jan 21, 2014

The case for this great. The tumbler contacts are far too small. I've been quite successful with hand made picks. I haven't been able to pick even the cheapest locks with this set.
Dec 13, 2013

i would only recommend this to a friend if they knew what they were doing. i figured the booklet that came with it would tell me what to do and be informative. however since i have never picked a lock in my life and the booklet gives you more history then how-to. i was not satisfied with it
Oct 06, 2013

Aug 22, 2013

first off the booklet was good but provided more history about locks then how you actually pick locks. the picks are extremely flimsy and i cant pick a lock without them bending like heck. get the better set for 2 more dollars. i guess this is what you would get for your price
Jul 03, 2013

overall good pick set, only complaint is size and that horrible torque wrench. ended up making my own tension wrench that worked better
Feb 04, 2013

The set is ok considering the price but I wouldnt recomend it for beginers. The book should be thrown away since it offers no help and I think the tools are way too easy to bend for a beginers hands. Its not the worst thing I've ever bought.
Feb 20, 2012

For starters I do like how small it is its easy to carry, but I would want to put it in my wallet, I think it would break the plastic very easily if sat on, and to another issue that some others were talking about, the tools are very easy to bend, and I heard this before I bought the product so I was very careful when trying 2 pick my lock and I still have noticed little bending of the tool. Also the book was not helpful at all. It didn't tell me anything that I didn't already know. But its a great price and its a great product to practice with before spending more on different tools.
Nov 06, 2011

Very poor quality product. It bends very easy. Once you start picking a lock, metal starts bending when you try to spin inside the lock. So far was unable to pick any lock, although didn't have much time playing with it. But anyway, I wouldn't recommend this product.
These can be good for small locks like luggage locks, but for the purpose for most people, doors, large padlocks, anything big, these are terrible for, I've been picking locks for some time now and these just don't cut it, bottom line, too small, not durable, and the torsion wrench doesn't get into the lock far enough.
Nov 03, 2011

I ordered these picks some time ago and while the case is handy and fits well in my wallet, I am disappointing in the picks themselves. For starters, the picks displayed everywhere in the advertisements are apparently inaccurate. I've been picking for some time and I've always been best with a hook pick. One that is clearly displayed. I received two cheap rakes and two diamond heads. Granted, I'm not the best, but how are you supposed to get better with picks that bend when used and are barely tough enough to push the pins? I would recommend throwing out the picks, getting a good set, but keep the case. It, at least, is handy. And make sure what is pictured is what you actually get.
